God’s Righteous Judgment
(Romans 2:1–16)

1For the one directing: To “Do not Destroy.” A Psalm of Asaph. A Song.

1 We give thanks to You, O God;

we give thanks—for Your name is near—

recounting Your wonders.

2“When I take the appointed place,

I will judge uprightly.

3At the dissolving of the earth and all its dwellers,

I measure out its pillars.

Selah

4I said to those boasting, ‘You⁺ shall not boast,’

and to the wicked, ‘You⁺ shall not lift up the horn;

5you⁺ shall not lift up your⁺ horn to the height,

or speak with an insolent neck.’”

6For it is not from the going forth or from the sinking,

and not from the wilderness is exaltation,

7But God is judging—

this one He brings low, and this one He lifts up.

8For a cup is in the hand of YHWH,

and the wine is foaming, full of mixture,

and He shall pour out from this—

how its dregs shall be wrung out—

and all the wicked of the earth shall drink.

9And I will declare it forever;

I will make music to the God of Jacob.

10“And all the horns of the wicked I will cut off;

the horns of the righteous will be exalted.”

Footnotes:

9 Or declare Him
