Psalm 76
Berean Literal Bible Par ▾

God’s name Is Great in Israel

1For the one directing. On stringed instruments. A Psalm of Asaph. A Song.

1 In Judah God is known,

in Israel His name is great.

2And His tent is in Salem,

and his dwelling place in Zion.

3There he has shattered the arrows of the bow—

the shield and sword and weapon of war.

Selah

4luminous are You

and majestic, from the mountains of prey.

5They became plunder, the mighty of heart; they have slept their sleep,

and the men of might could not find any of their hands.

6At Your rebuke, O God of Jacob,

both the rider and horse are lain asleep.

7You are to be feared—You!

And who can stand before Your face at the time of Your anger?

8From the heavens You have sounded the judgment;

the earth has feared and has been still,

9at the rising of God to the judgment,

to bring salvation to all the lowly ones of the earth.

Selah

10for the wrath of man shall praise You;

with the remainder of wrath You gird Yourself.

11Make vows to YHWH your⁺ God, and fulfill them;

let all around Him bring tribute

to the Fearsome One.

12He takes away the spirit of princes;

He is feared by the kings of the earth.

Footnotes:

2 That is, Jerusalem
10 Or Surely Your wrath against men brings You praise, and the survivors of Your wrath will be restrained.
