Good News Translation
However, for the sake of your father David I will not do this in your lifetime, but during the reign of your son.

Yet for the sake of your father David I will not do it in your lifetime; I will tear it out of the hand of your son.

But because David was your father, you will remain king as long as you live. I will wait until your son becomes king, then I will take the kingdom from him.
