Good News Translation
This sin of the sons of Eli was extremely serious in the LORD's sight, because they treated the offerings to the LORD with such disrespect.

Thus the sin of the young men was very great in the sight of the LORD; for they treated the offerings of the LORD with contempt.

Eli's sons did not show any respect for the sacrifices that the people offered. This was a terrible sin, and it made the LORD very angry.
