He has humbled those who were proud; he destroyed the strong city they lived in, and sent its walls crashing into the dust.

For he shall bring down them that dwell on high, the high city he shall lay low. He shall bring it down even to the ground, he shall pull it down even to the dust.
Isaiah 2:12 Because the day of the Lord of hosts shall be upon every one that is proud and highminded, and upon every one that is arrogant, and he shall be humbled.

Scatter the proud in thy indignation, and behold every arrogant man, and humble him.
Remember not our former iniquities: let thy mercies speedily prevent us, for we are become exceeding poor.
For thou hast reduced the city to a heap, the strong city to ruin, the house of strangers, to be no city, and to be no more built up for ever.
And the bulwarks of thy high walls shall fall, and be brought low, and shall be pulled down to the ground, even to the dust.
But hail shall be in the descent of the forest, and the city shall be made very low.
Beth. The Lord hath cast down headlong, and hath not spared, all that was beautiful in Jacob: he hath destroyed in his wrath the strong holds of the virgin of Juda, and brought them down to the ground: he hath made the kingdom unclean, and the princes thereof.
With the hoofs of his horses he shall tread down all thy streets, thy people he shall kill with the sword, and thy famous statues shall fall to the ground.
