1 Corinthians 2
Lamsa Bible Par ▾
1AND I, my brethren, when I came to you, did not come with excellency of speech, nor did I preach to you with learning the mystery of God. 2For I did not pretend to know anything among you, except Jesus Christ, and even him crucified. 3And I was with you with much reverence for God and in trembling. 4And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, 5So that your faith might not rest in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.

6Howbeit we do discuss wisdom with those who have comprehension, yet not the wisdom of this world, nor of the rulers of this world who pass away: 7But we discuss the wisdom of God shown in a mysterious way, and it is hidden, but which God ordained before the world for our glory: 8Which none of the rulers of the world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the LORD of glory.

9But as it is written, The eye has not seen, and the ear has not heard, and the heart of man has not conceived the things which God has prepared for those who love him.

10But God has revealed them to us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searches everything, even the depths of God. 11For what man knows the mind of man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so, no man knows the mind of God, except the Spirit of God. 12Now we have received not the spirit of the world, but the spirit that is from God, that we may understand the gifts that are given to us by God. 13For the things which we discuss are not dependent on the knowledge of words and man’s wisdom, but on the teaching of the Spirit; thus explaining spiritual things to the spiritually minded.

14For the material man rejects spiritual things, for they are foolishness to him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. 15But the spiritual man discerns every thing, and yet no man can discern him. 16For who knows the mind of the LORD, that he may teach it? But we have the perception of Christ.
