CommentaryWesley's Notes on the Bible
17:14 Corruption - Heb. to the pit of corruption, the grave. Father - I am near a - kin to thee, and thou wilt receive and keep me in thy house, as parents do their children.
My body is covered with maggots and scabs. My skin breaks open, oozing with pus.
I waste away like rotting wood, like a moth-eaten coat.
But both are buried in the same dust, both eaten by the same maggots.
In comparison, people are maggots; we mortals are mere worms."
My skin has turned dark, and my bones burn with fever.
