Moses continued, "The LORD your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among your fellow Israelites. You must listen to him.
So the family went and lived in a town called Nazareth. This fulfilled what the prophets had said: "He will be called a Nazarene."
The entire city of Jerusalem was in an uproar as he entered. "Who is this?" they asked.
But if we say it was merely human, we'll be mobbed because the people believe John was a prophet."
They wanted to arrest him, but they were afraid of the crowds, who considered Jesus to be a prophet.
Others said, "He's the prophet Elijah." Still others said, "He's a prophet like the other great prophets of the past."
Great fear swept the crowd, and they praised God, saying, "A mighty prophet has risen among us," and "God has visited his people today."
