Berean Study BibleNET Bible
When Israel departed from Egypt, the house of Jacob from a people of foreign tongue,1When Israel left Egypt, when the family of Jacob left a foreign nation behind,
Judah became God’s sanctuary, and Israel His dominion.2Judah became his sanctuary, Israel his kingdom.
The sea observed and fled; the Jordan turned back;3The sea looked and fled; the Jordan River turned back.
the mountains skipped like rams, the hills like lambs.4The mountains skipped like rams, the hills like lambs.
Why was it, O sea, that you fled, O Jordan, that you turned back,5Why do you flee, O sea? Why do you turn back, O Jordan River?
O mountains, that you skipped like rams, O hills, like lambs?6Why do you skip like rams, O mountains, like lambs, O hills?
Tremble, O earth, at the presence of the Lord, at the presence of the God of Jacob,7Tremble, O earth, before the Lord--before the God of Jacob,
who turned the rock into a pool, the flint into a fountain of water!8who turned a rock into a pool of water, a hard rock into springs of water!
