A Psalm of Asaph. God presides in the divine assembly; He renders judgment among the gods:1A psalm of Asaph. God stands in the assembly of El; in the midst of the gods he renders judgment.
“How long will you judge unjustly and show partiality to the wicked? Selah2He says, "How long will you make unjust legal decisions and show favoritism to the wicked? (Selah)
Defend the cause of the weak and fatherless; uphold the rights of the afflicted and oppressed.3Defend the cause of the poor and the fatherless! Vindicate the oppressed and suffering!
Rescue the weak and needy; save them from the hand of the wicked.4Rescue the poor and needy! Deliver them from the power of the wicked!
They do not know or understand; they wander in the darkness; all the foundations of the earth are shaken.5They neither know nor understand. They stumble around in the dark, while all the foundations of the earth crumble.
I have said, ‘You are gods; you are all sons of the Most High.’6I thought, 'You are gods; all of you are sons of the Most High.'
But like mortals you will die, and like rulers you will fall.”7Yet you will die like mortals; you will fall like all the other rulers."
Arise, O God, judge the earth, for all the nations are Your inheritance.8Rise up, O God, and execute judgment on the earth! For you own all the nations.
