CSB Parallel ESV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
Christian Standard BibleEnglish Standard Version
"Carefully follow every command I am giving you today, so that you may live and increase, and may enter and take possession of the land the LORD swore to your fathers.1“The whole commandment that I command you today you shall be careful to do, that you may live and multiply, and go in and possess the land that the LORD swore to give to your fathers.
Remember that the LORD your God led you on the entire journey these forty years in the wilderness, so that he might humble you and test you to know what was in your heart, whether or not you would keep his commands.2And you shall remember the whole way that the LORD your God has led you these forty years in the wilderness, that he might humble you, testing you to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep his commandments or not.
He humbled you by letting you go hungry; then he gave you manna to eat, which you and your fathers had not known, so that you might learn that man does not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of the LORD.3And he humbled you and let you hunger and fed you with manna, which you did not know, nor did your fathers know, that he might make you know that man does not live by bread alone, but man lives by every word that comes from the mouth of the LORD.
Your clothing did not wear out, and your feet did not swell these forty years.4Your clothing did not wear out on you and your foot did not swell these forty years.
Keep in mind that the LORD your God has been disciplining you just as a man disciplines his son.5Know then in your heart that, as a man disciplines his son, the LORD your God disciplines you.
So keep the commands of the LORD your God by walking in his ways and fearing him.6So you shall keep the commandments of the LORD your God by walking in his ways and by fearing him.
For the LORD your God is bringing you into a good land, a land with streams, springs, and deep water sources, flowing in both valleys and hills;7For the LORD your God is bringing you into a good land, a land of brooks of water, of fountains and springs, flowing out in the valleys and hills,
a land of wheat, barley, vines, figs, and pomegranates; a land of olive oil and honey;8a land of wheat and barley, of vines and fig trees and pomegranates, a land of olive trees and honey,
a land where you will eat food without shortage, where you will lack nothing; a land whose rocks are iron and from whose hills you will mine copper.9a land in which you will eat bread without scarcity, in which you will lack nothing, a land whose stones are iron, and out of whose hills you can dig copper.
When you eat and are full, you will bless the LORD your God for the good land he has given you.10And you shall eat and be full, and you shall bless the LORD your God for the good land he has given you.
"Be careful that you don't forget the LORD your God by failing to keep his commands, ordinances, and statutes that I am giving you today.11“Take care lest you forget the LORD your God by not keeping his commandments and his rules and his statutes, which I command you today,
When you eat and are full, and build beautiful houses to live in,12lest, when you have eaten and are full and have built good houses and live in them,
and your herds and flocks grow large, and your silver and gold multiply, and everything else you have increases,13and when your herds and flocks multiply and your silver and gold is multiplied and all that you have is multiplied,
be careful that your heart doesn't become proud and you forget the LORD your God who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the place of slavery.14then your heart be lifted up, and you forget the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery,
He led you through the great and terrible wilderness with its poisonous snakes and scorpions, a thirsty land where there was no water. He brought water out of the flint rock for you.15who led you through the great and terrifying wilderness, with its fiery serpents and scorpions and thirsty ground where there was no water, who brought you water out of the flinty rock,
He fed you in the wilderness with manna, which your fathers had not known, in order to humble and test you, so that in the end he might cause you to prosper.16who fed you in the wilderness with manna that your fathers did not know, that he might humble you and test you, to do you good in the end.
You may say to yourself, 'My power and my own ability have gained this wealth for me,'17Beware lest you say in your heart, ‘My power and the might of my hand have gotten me this wealth.’
but remember that the LORD your God gives you the power to gain wealth, in order to confirm his covenant he swore to your fathers, as it is today.18You shall remember the LORD your God, for it is he who gives you power to get wealth, that he may confirm his covenant that he swore to your fathers, as it is this day.
If you ever forget the LORD your God and follow other gods to serve them and bow in worship to them, I testify against you today that you will perish.19And if you forget the LORD your God and go after other gods and serve them and worship them, I solemnly warn you today that you shall surely perish.
Like the nations the LORD is about to destroy before you, you will perish if you do not obey the LORD your God.20Like the nations that the LORD makes to perish before you, so shall you perish, because you would not obey the voice of the LORD your God.
