Psalm 37
CSB Parallel ISV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
Christian Standard BibleInternational Standard Version
Do not be agitated by evildoers; do not envy those who do wrong.1Don't be angry because of those who do evil, do not be jealous because of those who commit iniquity.
For they wither quickly like grass and wilt like tender green plants.2Indeed, they soon will wither like grass, and like green herbs they will fade away.
Trust in the LORD and do what is good; dwell in the land and live securely.3Trust in the LORD and do good. Dwell in the land and feed on faithfulness.
Take delight in the LORD, and he will give you your heart's desires.4Delight yourself in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart.
Commit your way to the LORD; trust in him, and he will act,5Commit your way to the LORD; Trust him, and he will act.
making your righteousness shine like the dawn, your justice like the noonday.6He will bring forth your righteousness as a light, and your justice as the noonday sun.
Be silent before the LORD and wait expectantly for him; do not be agitated by one who prospers in his way, by the person who carries out evil plans.7Be silent in the LORD's presence and wait patiently for him. Don't be angry because of the one whose way prospers or the one who implements evil schemes.
Refrain from anger and give up your rage; do not be agitated--it can only bring harm.8Calm your anger and abandon wrath. Don't be angry— it only leads to evil.
For evildoers will be destroyed, but those who put their hope in the LORD will inherit the land.9Those who do evil will perish. But those who wait on the LORD will inherit the land.
A little while, and the wicked person will be no more; though you look for him, he will not be there.10Yet a little while longer, and the wicked will be no more. You will search for his place, but he will not be there.
But the humble will inherit the land and will enjoy abundant prosperity.11The humble will inherit the land; they will take in abundant peace.
The wicked person schemes against the righteous and gnashes his teeth at him.12The wicked person plots against the righteous, and grinds his teeth at him.
The Lord laughs at him because he sees that his day is coming.13But the Lord laughs at him because he sees that his day is coming!
The wicked have drawn the sword and strung the bow to bring down the poor and needy and to slaughter those whose way is upright.14The wicked take out a sword and bend the bow, to bring down the humble and the poor to slay those who are righteous in conduct.
Their swords will enter their own hearts, and their bows will be broken.15But their sword will pierce their own heart, and their bows will be broken!
The little that the righteous person has is better than the abundance of many wicked people.16Better is the little that the righteous have than the abundance of many wicked people.
For the arms of the wicked will be broken, but the LORD supports the righteous.17For the arms of the wicked will be broken, but the LORD upholds the righteous.
The LORD watches over the blameless all their days, and their inheritance will last forever.18The LORD knows the day of the blameless, and their inheritance will last forever.
They will not be disgraced in times of adversity; they will be satisfied in days of hunger.19They will not experience shame in times of trouble; in times of famine they will have plenty.
But the wicked will perish; the LORD's enemies, like the glory of the pastures, will fade away--they will fade away like smoke.20Indeed, the wicked will perish. The LORD's enemies will be consumed like flowers in the fields. They will vanish like smoke.
The wicked person borrows and does not repay, but the righteous one is gracious and giving.21The wicked borrow but never pay back; but the righteous are generous and give.
Those who are blessed by the LORD will inherit the land, but those cursed by him will be destroyed.22For those blessed by God will inherit the land, but those cursed by him will be cut off.
A person's steps are established by the LORD, and he takes pleasure in his way.23A man's steps are established by the LORD, and the LORD delights in his way.
Though he falls, he will not be overwhelmed, because the LORD supports him with his hand.24Though he stumbles, he will not fall down flat, for the LORD will hold up his hand.
I have been young and now I am old, yet I have not seen the righteous abandoned or his children begging for bread.25I once was young and now I am old, but I have not seen a righteous person forsaken or his descendants begging for bread.
He is always generous, always lending, and his children are a blessing.26Every day he is generous, lending freely, and his descendants are blessed.
Turn away from evil, do what is good, and settle permanently.27Depart from evil, and do good, and you will live in the land forever.
For the LORD loves justice and will not abandon his faithful ones. They are kept safe forever, but the children of the wicked will be destroyed.28Indeed, the LORD loves justice, and he will not abandon his godly ones. They are kept safe forever, but the lawless will be chased away, and the descendants of the wicked will be cut off.
The righteous will inherit the land and dwell in it permanently.29The righteous will inherit the land, and they will dwell in it forever.
The mouth of the righteous utters wisdom; his tongue speaks what is just.30The mouth of the righteous one produces wisdom; his tongue speaks justice.
The instruction of his God is in his heart; his steps do not falter.31The instruction of his God is in his heart; his steps will not slip.
The wicked one lies in wait for the righteous and intends to kill him;32The wicked stalks the righteous person, seeking to kill him,
the LORD will not leave him in the power of the wicked one or allow him to be condemned when he is judged.33but the LORD will not let him fall into his hands. He will not be condemned when he is put on trial.
Wait for the LORD and keep his way, and he will exalt you to inherit the land. You will watch when the wicked are destroyed.34Wait on the LORD, Keep faithful to his way, and he will exalt you to possess the land. You will see the wicked cut off.
I have seen a wicked, violent person well-rooted, like a flourishing native tree.35I once observed a wicked and oppressive person, flourishing like a green tree in native soil.
Then I passed by and noticed he was gone; I searched for him, but he could not be found.36But then he passed away; in fact, he simply was not there. When I looked for him, he could not be found.
Watch the blameless and observe the upright, for the person of peace will have a future.37Observe the blameless! Take note of the upright! Indeed, the future of that man is peace.
But transgressors will all be eliminated; the future of the wicked will be destroyed.38Sinners will be destroyed together; the future of the wicked will be cut off.
The salvation of the righteous is from the LORD, their refuge in a time of distress.39But deliverance for the righteous one comes from the LORD; he is their strength in times of distress.
The LORD helps and delivers them; he will deliver them from the wicked and will save them because they take refuge in him.40The LORD helps and delivers them; he will deliver them from the wicked, and he will save them because they have sought refuge in him.
