Psalm 71
CSB Parallel NET [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
Christian Standard BibleNET Bible
LORD, I seek refuge in you; let me never be disgraced.1In you, O LORD, I have taken shelter! Never let me be humiliated!
In your justice, rescue and deliver me; listen closely to me and save me.2Vindicate me by rescuing me! Listen to me! Deliver me!
Be a rock of refuge for me, where I can always go. Give the command to save me, for you are my rock and fortress.3Be my protector and refuge, a stronghold where I can be safe! For you are my high ridge and my stronghold.
Deliver me, my God, from the power of the wicked, from the grasp of the unjust and oppressive.4My God, rescue me from the power of the wicked, from the hand of the cruel oppressor!
For you are my hope, Lord GOD, my confidence from my youth.5For you give me confidence, O Lord; O LORD, I have trusted in you since I was young.
I have leaned on you from birth; you took me from my mother's womb. My praise is always about you.6I have leaned on you since birth; you pulled me from my mother's womb. I praise you continually.
I am like a miraculous sign to many, and you are my strong refuge.7Many are appalled when they see me, but you are my secure shelter.
My mouth is full of praise and honor to you all day long.8I praise you constantly and speak of your splendor all day long.
Don't discard me in my old age. As my strength fails, do not abandon me.9Do not reject me in my old age! When my strength fails, do not abandon me!
For my enemies talk about me, and those who spy on me plot together,10For my enemies talk about me; those waiting for a chance to kill me plot my demise.
saying, "God has abandoned him; chase him and catch him, for there is no one to rescue him."11They say, "God has abandoned him. Run and seize him, for there is no one who will rescue him!"
God, do not be far from me; my God, hurry to help me.12O God, do not remain far away from me! My God, hurry and help me!
May my adversaries be disgraced and destroyed; may those who intend to harm me be covered with disgrace and humiliation.13May my accusers be humiliated and defeated! May those who want to harm me be covered with scorn and disgrace!
But I will hope continually and will praise you more and more.14As for me, I will wait continually, and will continue to praise you.
My mouth will tell about your righteousness and your salvation all day long, though I cannot sum them up.15I will tell about your justice, and all day long proclaim your salvation, though I cannot fathom its full extent.
I come because of the mighty acts of the Lord GOD; I will proclaim your righteousness, yours alone.16I will come and tell about the mighty acts of the sovereign LORD. I will proclaim your justice--yours alone.
God, you have taught me from my youth, and I still proclaim your wondrous works.17O God, you have taught me since I was young, and I am still declaring your amazing deeds.
Even while I am old and gray, God, do not abandon me, while I proclaim your power to another generation, your strength to all who are to come.18Even when I am old and gray, O God, do not abandon me, until I tell the next generation about your strength, and those coming after me about your power.
Your righteousness reaches the heights, God, you who have done great things; God, who is like you?19Your justice, O God, extends to the skies above; you have done great things. O God, who can compare to you?
You caused me to experience many troubles and misfortunes, but you will revive me again. You will bring me up again, even from the depths of the earth.20Though you have allowed me to experience much trouble and distress, revive me once again! Bring me up once again from the depths of the earth!
You will increase my honor and comfort me once again.21Raise me to a position of great honor! Turn and comfort me!
Therefore, I will praise you with a harp for your faithfulness, my God; I will sing to you with a lyre, Holy One of Israel.22I will express my thanks to you with a stringed instrument, praising your faithfulness, O my God! I will sing praises to you accompanied by a harp, O Holy One of Israel!
My lips will shout for joy when I sing praise to you because you have redeemed me.23My lips will shout for joy! Yes, I will sing your praises! I will praise you when you rescue me!
Therefore, my tongue will proclaim your righteousness all day long, for those who intend to harm me will be disgraced and confounded.24All day long my tongue will also tell about your justice, for those who want to harm me will be embarrassed and ashamed.
