Therefore, brothers and sisters, in view of the mercies of God, I urge you to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God; this is your true worship.1Therefore I exhort you, brothers and sisters, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a sacrifice--alive, holy, and pleasing to God--which is your reasonable service.
Do not be conformed to this age, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may discern what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God.2Do not be conformed to this present world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may test and approve what is the will of God--what is good and well-pleasing and perfect.
For by the grace given to me, I tell everyone among you not to think of himself more highly than he should think. Instead, think sensibly, as God has distributed a measure of faith to each one.3For by the grace given to me I say to every one of you not to think more highly of yourself than you ought to think, but to think with sober discernment, as God has distributed to each of you a measure of faith.
Now as we have many parts in one body, and all the parts do not have the same function,4For just as in one body we have many members, and not all the members serve the same function,
in the same way we who are many are one body in Christ and individually members of one another.5so we who are many are one body in Christ, and individually we are members who belong to one another.
According to the grace given to us, we have different gifts: If prophecy, use it according to the proportion of one's faith;6And we have different gifts according to the grace given to us. If the gift is prophecy, that individual must use it in proportion to his faith.
if service, use it in service; if teaching, in teaching;7If it is service, he must serve; if it is teaching, he must teach;
if exhorting, in exhortation; giving, with generosity; leading, with diligence; showing mercy, with cheerfulness.8if it is exhortation, he must exhort; if it is contributing, he must do so with sincerity; if it is leadership, he must do so with diligence; if it is showing mercy, he must do so with cheerfulness.
Let love be without hypocrisy. Detest evil; cling to what is good.9Love must be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil, cling to what is good.
Love one another deeply as brothers and sisters. Outdo one another in showing honor.10Be devoted to one another with mutual love, showing eagerness in honoring one another.
Do not lack diligence in zeal; be fervent in the Spirit; serve the Lord.11Do not lag in zeal, be enthusiastic in spirit, serve the Lord.
Rejoice in hope; be patient in affliction; be persistent in prayer.12Rejoice in hope, endure in suffering, persist in prayer.
Share with the saints in their needs; pursue hospitality.13Contribute to the needs of the saints, pursue hospitality.
Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse.14Bless those who persecute you, bless and do not curse.
Rejoice with those who rejoice; weep with those who weep.15Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep.
Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud; instead, associate with the humble. Do not be wise in your own estimation.16Live in harmony with one another; do not be haughty but associate with the lowly. Do not be conceited.
Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Give careful thought to do what is honorable in everyone's eyes.17Do not repay anyone evil for evil; consider what is good before all people.
If possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.18If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all people.
Friends, do not avenge yourselves; instead, leave room for God's wrath, because it is written, Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord.19Do not avenge yourselves, dear friends, but give place to God's wrath, for it is written, "Vengeance is mine, I will repay," says the Lord.
But If your enemy is hungry, feed him. If he is thirsty, give him something to drink. For in so doing you will be heaping fiery coals on his head.20Rather, if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him a drink; for in doing this you will be heaping burning coals on his head.
Do not be conquered by evil, but conquer evil with good.21Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
