Christian Standard BibleNew International Version
Therefore, brothers and sisters, in view of the mercies of God, I urge you to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God; this is your true worship.1Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God--this is your true and proper worship.
Do not be conformed to this age, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may discern what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God.2Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is--his good, pleasing and perfect will.
For by the grace given to me, I tell everyone among you not to think of himself more highly than he should think. Instead, think sensibly, as God has distributed a measure of faith to each one.3For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the faith God has distributed to each of you.
Now as we have many parts in one body, and all the parts do not have the same function,4For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function,
in the same way we who are many are one body in Christ and individually members of one another.5so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.
According to the grace given to us, we have different gifts: If prophecy, use it according to the proportion of one's faith;6We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith;
if service, use it in service; if teaching, in teaching;7if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach;
if exhorting, in exhortation; giving, with generosity; leading, with diligence; showing mercy, with cheerfulness.8if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully.
Let love be without hypocrisy. Detest evil; cling to what is good.9Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good.
Love one another deeply as brothers and sisters. Outdo one another in showing honor.10Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves.
Do not lack diligence in zeal; be fervent in the Spirit; serve the Lord.11Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord.
Rejoice in hope; be patient in affliction; be persistent in prayer.12Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.
Share with the saints in their needs; pursue hospitality.13Share with the Lord's people who are in need. Practice hospitality.
Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse.14Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse.
Rejoice with those who rejoice; weep with those who weep.15Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn.
Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud; instead, associate with the humble. Do not be wise in your own estimation.16Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position. Do not be conceited.
Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Give careful thought to do what is honorable in everyone's eyes.17Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everyone.
If possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.18If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.
Friends, do not avenge yourselves; instead, leave room for God's wrath, because it is written, Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord.19Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God's wrath, for it is written: "It is mine to avenge; I will repay," says the Lord.
But If your enemy is hungry, feed him. If he is thirsty, give him something to drink. For in so doing you will be heaping fiery coals on his head.20On the contrary: "If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head."
Do not be conquered by evil, but conquer evil with good.21Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
