Psalm 7
English Standard VersionHolman Christian Standard Bible
O LORD my God, in you do I take refuge; save me from all my pursuers and deliver me,1A Shiggaion of David, which he sang to the LORD concerning the words of Cush, a Benjaminite. Yahweh my God, I seek refuge in You; save me from all my pursuers and rescue me
lest like a lion they tear my soul apart, rending it in pieces, with none to deliver.2or they will tear me like a lion, ripping me apart with no one to rescue me.
O LORD my God, if I have done this, if there is wrong in my hands,3Yahweh my God, if I have done this, if there is injustice on my hands,
if I have repaid my friend with evil or plundered my enemy without cause,4if I have done harm to one at peace with me or have plundered my adversary without cause,
let the enemy pursue my soul and overtake it, and let him trample my life to the ground and lay my glory in the dust. Selah5may an enemy pursue and overtake me; may he trample me to the ground and leave my honor in the dust. Selah
Arise, O LORD, in your anger; lift yourself up against the fury of my enemies; awake for me; you have appointed a judgment.6Rise up, LORD, in Your anger; lift Yourself up against the fury of my adversaries; awake for me; You have ordained a judgment.
Let the assembly of the peoples be gathered about you; over it return on high.7Let the assembly of peoples gather around You; take Your seat on high over it.
The LORD judges the peoples; judge me, O LORD, according to my righteousness and according to the integrity that is in me.8The LORD judges the peoples; vindicate me, LORD, according to my righteousness and my integrity.
Oh, let the evil of the wicked come to an end, and may you establish the righteous— you who test the minds and hearts, O righteous God!9Let the evil of the wicked come to an end, but establish the righteous. The One who examines the thoughts and emotions is a righteous God.
My shield is with God, who saves the upright in heart.10My shield is with God, who saves the upright in heart.
God is a righteous judge, and a God who feels indignation every day.11God is a righteous judge and a God who shows His wrath every day.
If a man does not repent, God will whet his sword; he has bent and readied his bow;12If anyone does not repent, God will sharpen His sword; He has strung His bow and made it ready.
he has prepared for him his deadly weapons, making his arrows fiery shafts.13He has prepared His deadly weapons; He tips His arrows with fire.
Behold, the wicked man conceives evil and is pregnant with mischief and gives birth to lies.14See, the wicked one is pregnant with evil, conceives trouble, and gives birth to deceit.
He makes a pit, digging it out, and falls into the hole that he has made.15He dug a pit and hollowed it out but fell into the hole he had made.
His mischief returns upon his own head, and on his own skull his violence descends.16His trouble comes back on his own head, and his violence falls on the top of his head.
I will give to the LORD the thanks due to his righteousness, and I will sing praise to the name of the LORD, the Most High.17I will thank the LORD for His righteousness; I will sing about the name of Yahweh the Most High.
