Psalm 71
ESV Parallel KJV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
English Standard VersionKing James Bible
In you, O LORD, do I take refuge; let me never be put to shame!1In thee, O LORD, do I put my trust: let me never be put to confusion.
In your righteousness deliver me and rescue me; incline your ear to me, and save me!2Deliver me in thy righteousness, and cause me to escape: incline thine ear unto me, and save me.
Be to me a rock of refuge, to which I may continually come; you have given the command to save me, for you are my rock and my fortress.3Be thou my strong habitation, whereunto I may continually resort: thou hast given commandment to save me; for thou art my rock and my fortress.
Rescue me, O my God, from the hand of the wicked, from the grasp of the unjust and cruel man.4Deliver me, O my God, out of the hand of the wicked, out of the hand of the unrighteous and cruel man.
For you, O Lord, are my hope, my trust, O LORD, from my youth.5For thou art my hope, O Lord GOD: thou art my trust from my youth.
Upon you I have leaned from before my birth; you are he who took me from my mother’s womb. My praise is continually of you.6By thee have I been holden up from the womb: thou art he that took me out of my mother's bowels: my praise shall be continually of thee.
I have been as a portent to many, but you are my strong refuge.7I am as a wonder unto many; but thou art my strong refuge.
My mouth is filled with your praise, and with your glory all the day.8Let my mouth be filled with thy praise and with thy honour all the day.
Do not cast me off in the time of old age; forsake me not when my strength is spent.9Cast me not off in the time of old age; forsake me not when my strength faileth.
For my enemies speak concerning me; those who watch for my life consult together10For mine enemies speak against me; and they that lay wait for my soul take counsel together,
and say, “God has forsaken him; pursue and seize him, for there is none to deliver him.”11Saying, God hath forsaken him: persecute and take him; for there is none to deliver him.
O God, be not far from me; O my God, make haste to help me!12O God, be not far from me: O my God, make haste for my help.
May my accusers be put to shame and consumed; with scorn and disgrace may they be covered who seek my hurt.13Let them be confounded and consumed that are adversaries to my soul; let them be covered with reproach and dishonour that seek my hurt.
But I will hope continually and will praise you yet more and more.14But I will hope continually, and will yet praise thee more and more.
My mouth will tell of your righteous acts, of your deeds of salvation all the day, for their number is past my knowledge.15My mouth shall shew forth thy righteousness and thy salvation all the day; for I know not the numbers thereof.
With the mighty deeds of the Lord GOD I will come; I will remind them of your righteousness, yours alone.16I will go in the strength of the Lord GOD: I will make mention of thy righteousness, even of thine only.
O God, from my youth you have taught me, and I still proclaim your wondrous deeds.17O God, thou hast taught me from my youth: and hitherto have I declared thy wondrous works.
So even to old age and gray hairs, O God, do not forsake me, until I proclaim your might to another generation, your power to all those to come.18Now also when I am old and grayheaded, O God, forsake me not; until I have shewed thy strength unto this generation, and thy power to every one that is to come.
Your righteousness, O God, reaches the high heavens. You who have done great things, O God, who is like you?19Thy righteousness also, O God, is very high, who hast done great things: O God, who is like unto thee!
You who have made me see many troubles and calamities will revive me again; from the depths of the earth you will bring me up again.20Thou, which hast shewed me great and sore troubles, shalt quicken me again, and shalt bring me up again from the depths of the earth.
You will increase my greatness and comfort me again.21Thou shalt increase my greatness, and comfort me on every side.
I will also praise you with the harp for your faithfulness, O my God; I will sing praises to you with the lyre, O Holy One of Israel.22I will also praise thee with the psaltery, even thy truth, O my God: unto thee will I sing with the harp, O thou Holy One of Israel.
My lips will shout for joy, when I sing praises to you; my soul also, which you have redeemed.23My lips shall greatly rejoice when I sing unto thee; and my soul, which thou hast redeemed.
And my tongue will talk of your righteous help all the day long, for they have been put to shame and disappointed who sought to do me hurt.24My tongue also shall talk of thy righteousness all the day long: for they are confounded, for they are brought unto shame, that seek my hurt.
