ESV Parallel NASB [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT GRK]
English Standard VersionNew American Standard Bible 1995
But as for you, teach what accords with sound doctrine.1But as for you, speak the things which are fitting for sound doctrine.
Older men are to be sober-minded, dignified, self-controlled, sound in faith, in love, and in steadfastness.2Older men are to be temperate, dignified, sensible, sound in faith, in love, in perseverance.
Older women likewise are to be reverent in behavior, not slanderers or slaves to much wine. They are to teach what is good,3Older women likewise are to be reverent in their behavior, not malicious gossips nor enslaved to much wine, teaching what is good,
and so train the young women to love their husbands and children,4so that they may encourage the young women to love their husbands, to love their children,
to be self-controlled, pure, working at home, kind, and submissive to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be reviled.5to be sensible, pure, workers at home, kind, being subject to their own husbands, so that the word of God will not be dishonored.
Likewise, urge the younger men to be self-controlled.6Likewise urge the young men to be sensible;
Show yourself in all respects to be a model of good works, and in your teaching show integrity, dignity,7in all things show yourself to be an example of good deeds, with purity in doctrine, dignified,
and sound speech that cannot be condemned, so that an opponent may be put to shame, having nothing evil to say about us.8sound in speech which is beyond reproach, so that the opponent will be put to shame, having nothing bad to say about us.
Bondservants are to be submissive to their own masters in everything; they are to be well-pleasing, not argumentative,9Urge bondslaves to be subject to their own masters in everything, to be well-pleasing, not argumentative,
not pilfering, but showing all good faith, so that in everything they may adorn the doctrine of God our Savior.10not pilfering, but showing all good faith so that they will adorn the doctrine of God our Savior in every respect.
For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people,11For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all men,
training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age,12instructing us to deny ungodliness and worldly desires and to live sensibly, righteously and godly in the present age,
waiting for our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ,13looking for the blessed hope and the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Christ Jesus,
who gave himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to purify for himself a people for his own possession who are zealous for good works.14who gave Himself for us to redeem us from every lawless deed, and to purify for Himself a people for His own possession, zealous for good deeds.
Declare these things; exhort and rebuke with all authority. Let no one disregard you.15These things speak and exhort and reprove with all authority. Let no one disregard you.
