1But as for you, teach what accords with sound doctrine.1Σὺ δὲ λάλει ἃ πρέπει τῇ ὑγιαινούσῃ διδασκαλίᾳ
2Older men are to be sober-minded, dignified, self-controlled, sound in faith, in love, and in steadfastness.2Πρεσβύτας νηφαλίους εἶναι σεμνούς σώφρονας ὑγιαίνοντας τῇ πίστει τῇ ἀγάπῃ τῇ ὑπομονῇ
3Older women likewise are to be reverent in behavior, not slanderers or slaves to much wine. They are to teach what is good,3πρεσβύτιδας ὡσαύτως ἐν καταστήματι ἱεροπρεπεῖς μὴ διαβόλους μηδὲ οἴνῳ πολλῷ δεδουλωμένας καλοδιδασκάλους
4and so train the young women to love their husbands and children,4ἵνα σωφρονίζωσιν τὰς νέας φιλάνδρους εἶναι φιλοτέκνους
5to be self-controlled, pure, working at home, kind, and submissive to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be reviled.5σώφρονας ἁγνάς οἰκουργούς ἀγαθάς ὑποτασσομένας τοῖς ἰδίοις ἀνδράσιν ἵνα μὴ ὁ λόγος τοῦ Θεοῦ βλασφημῆται
6Likewise, urge the younger men to be self-controlled.6Τοὺς νεωτέρους ὡσαύτως παρακάλει σωφρονεῖν
7Show yourself in all respects to be a model of good works, and in your teaching show integrity, dignity,7Περὶ πάντα σεαυτὸν παρεχόμενος τύπον καλῶν ἔργων ἐν τῇ διδασκαλίᾳ ἀφθορίαν σεμνότητα
8and sound speech that cannot be condemned, so that an opponent may be put to shame, having nothing evil to say about us.8λόγον ὑγιῆ ἀκατάγνωστον ἵνα ὁ ἐξ ἐναντίας ἐντραπῇ μηδὲν ἔχων λέγειν περὶ ἡμῶν φαῦλον
9Bondservants are to be submissive to their own masters in everything; they are to be well-pleasing, not argumentative,9Δούλους ἰδίοις δεσπόταις ὑποτάσσεσθαι ἐν πᾶσιν εὐαρέστους εἶναι μὴ ἀντιλέγοντας
10not pilfering, but showing all good faith, so that in everything they may adorn the doctrine of God our Savior.10μὴ νοσφιζομένους ἀλλὰ πᾶσαν πίστιν ἐνδεικνυμένους ἀγαθήν ἵνα τὴν διδασκαλίαν τὴν τοῦ Σωτῆρος ἡμῶν Θεοῦ κοσμῶσιν ἐν πᾶσιν
11For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people,11Ἐπεφάνη γὰρ ἡ χάρις τοῦ Θεοῦ σωτήριος πᾶσιν ἀνθρώποις
12training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age,12παιδεύουσα ἡμᾶς ἵνα ἀρνησάμενοι τὴν ἀσέβειαν καὶ τὰς κοσμικὰς ἐπιθυμίας σωφρόνως καὶ δικαίως καὶ εὐσεβῶς ζήσωμεν ἐν τῷ νῦν αἰῶνι
13waiting for our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ,13προσδεχόμενοι τὴν μακαρίαν ἐλπίδα καὶ ἐπιφάνειαν τῆς δόξης τοῦ μεγάλου Θεοῦ καὶ Σωτῆρος ἡμῶν Χριστοῦ Ἰησοῦ
14who gave himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to purify for himself a people for his own possession who are zealous for good works.14ὃς ἔδωκεν ἑαυτὸν ὑπὲρ ἡμῶν ἵνα λυτρώσηται ἡμᾶς ἀπὸ πάσης ἀνομίας καὶ καθαρίσῃ ἑαυτῷ λαὸν περιούσιον ζηλωτὴν καλῶν ἔργων
15Declare these things; exhort and rebuke with all authority. Let no one disregard you.15Ταῦτα λάλει καὶ παρακάλει καὶ ἔλεγχε μετὰ πάσης ἐπιταγῆς μηδείς σου περιφρονείτω
