Psalm 5
ESV Parallel NET [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
English Standard VersionNET Bible
Give ear to my words, O LORD; consider my groaning.1For the music director, to be accompanied by wind instruments; a psalm of David. Listen to what I say, LORD! Carefully consider my complaint!
Give attention to the sound of my cry, my King and my God, for to you do I pray.2Pay attention to my cry for help, my king and my God, for I am praying to you!
O LORD, in the morning you hear my voice; in the morning I prepare a sacrifice for you and watch.3LORD, in the morning you will hear me; in the morning I will present my case to you and then wait expectantly for an answer.
For you are not a God who delights in wickedness; evil may not dwell with you.4Certainly you are not a God who approves of evil; evil people cannot dwell with you.
The boastful shall not stand before your eyes; you hate all evildoers.5Arrogant people cannot stand in your presence; you hate all who behave wickedly.
You destroy those who speak lies; the LORD abhors the bloodthirsty and deceitful man.6You destroy liars; the LORD despises violent and deceitful people.
But I, through the abundance of your steadfast love, will enter your house. I will bow down toward your holy temple in the fear of you.7But as for me, because of your great faithfulness I will enter your house; I will bow down toward your holy temple as I worship you.
Lead me, O LORD, in your righteousness because of my enemies; make your way straight before me.8LORD, lead me in your righteousness because of those who wait to ambush me, remove the obstacles in the way in which you are guiding me!
For there is no truth in their mouth; their inmost self is destruction; their throat is an open grave; they flatter with their tongue.9For they do not speak the truth; their stomachs are like the place of destruction, their throats like an open grave, their tongues like a steep slope leading into it.
Make them bear their guilt, O God; let them fall by their own counsels; because of the abundance of their transgressions cast them out, for they have rebelled against you.10Condemn them, O God! May their own schemes be their downfall! Drive them away because of their many acts of insurrection, for they have rebelled against you.
But let all who take refuge in you rejoice; let them ever sing for joy, and spread your protection over them, that those who love your name may exult in you.11But may all who take shelter in you be happy! May they continually shout for joy! Shelter them so that those who are loyal to you may rejoice!
For you bless the righteous, O LORD; you cover him with favor as with a shield.12Certainly you reward the godly, LORD. Like a shield you protect them in your good favor.
