Psalm 5
ESV Parallel NIV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
English Standard VersionNew International Version
Give ear to my words, O LORD; consider my groaning.1For the director of music. For pipes. A psalm of David. Listen to my words, LORD, consider my lament.
Give attention to the sound of my cry, my King and my God, for to you do I pray.2Hear my cry for help, my King and my God, for to you I pray.
O LORD, in the morning you hear my voice; in the morning I prepare a sacrifice for you and watch.3In the morning, LORD, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait expectantly.
For you are not a God who delights in wickedness; evil may not dwell with you.4For you are not a God who is pleased with wickedness; with you, evil people are not welcome.
The boastful shall not stand before your eyes; you hate all evildoers.5The arrogant cannot stand in your presence. You hate all who do wrong;
You destroy those who speak lies; the LORD abhors the bloodthirsty and deceitful man.6you destroy those who tell lies. The bloodthirsty and deceitful you, LORD, detest.
But I, through the abundance of your steadfast love, will enter your house. I will bow down toward your holy temple in the fear of you.7But I, by your great love, can come into your house; in reverence I bow down toward your holy temple.
Lead me, O LORD, in your righteousness because of my enemies; make your way straight before me.8Lead me, LORD, in your righteousness because of my enemies-- make your way straight before me.
For there is no truth in their mouth; their inmost self is destruction; their throat is an open grave; they flatter with their tongue.9Not a word from their mouth can be trusted; their heart is filled with malice. Their throat is an open grave; with their tongues they tell lies.
Make them bear their guilt, O God; let them fall by their own counsels; because of the abundance of their transgressions cast them out, for they have rebelled against you.10Declare them guilty, O God! Let their intrigues be their downfall. Banish them for their many sins, for they have rebelled against you.
But let all who take refuge in you rejoice; let them ever sing for joy, and spread your protection over them, that those who love your name may exult in you.11But let all who take refuge in you be glad; let them ever sing for joy. Spread your protection over them, that those who love your name may rejoice in you.
For you bless the righteous, O LORD; you cover him with favor as with a shield.12Surely, LORD, you bless the righteous; you surround them with your favor as with a shield.
