1Davidic. May the LORD, my rock, be praised, who trains my hands for battle and my fingers for warfare. 1Blessed be the LORD, my rock, who trains my hands for war, and my fingers for battle;
2He is my faithful love and my fortress, my stronghold and my deliverer. He is my shield, and I take refuge in Him; He subdues my people under me. 2he is my steadfast love and my fortress, my stronghold and my deliverer, my shield and he in whom I take refuge, who subdues peoples under me.
3 LORD, what is man, that You care for him, the son of man, that You think of him? 3O LORD, what is man that you regard him, or the son of man that you think of him?
4Man is like a breath; his days are like a passing shadow. 4Man is like a breath; his days are like a passing shadow.
5 LORD, part Your heavens and come down. Touch the mountains, and they will smoke. 5Bow your heavens, O LORD, and come down! Touch the mountains so that they smoke!
6Flash Your lightning and scatter the foe; shoot Your arrows and rout them. 6Flash forth the lightning and scatter them; send out your arrows and rout them!
7Reach down from heaven; rescue me from deep water, and set me free from the grasp of foreigners 7Stretch out your hand from on high; rescue me and deliver me from the many waters, from the hand of foreigners,
8whose mouths speak lies, whose right hands are deceptive. 8whose mouths speak lies and whose right hand is a right hand of falsehood.
9God, I will sing a new song to You; I will play on a ten-stringed harp for You-- 9I will sing a new song to you, O God; upon a ten-stringed harp I will play to you,
10the One who gives victory to kings, who frees His servant David from the deadly sword. 10who gives victory to kings, who rescues David his servant from the cruel sword.
11Set me free and rescue me from the grasp of foreigners whose mouths speak lies, whose right hands are deceptive. 11Rescue me and deliver me from the hand of foreigners, whose mouths speak lies and whose right hand is a right hand of falsehood.
12Then our sons will be like plants nurtured in their youth, our daughters, like corner pillars that are carved in the palace style. 12May our sons in their youth be like plants full grown, our daughters like corner pillars cut for the structure of a palace;
13Our storehouses will be full, supplying all kinds of produce; our flocks will increase by thousands and tens of thousands in our open fields. 13may our granaries be full, providing all kinds of produce; may our sheep bring forth thousands and ten thousands in our fields;
14Our cattle will be well fed. There will be no breach in the walls, no going into captivity, and no cry of lament in our public squares. 14may our cattle be heavy with young, suffering no mishap or failure in bearing; may there be no cry of distress in our streets!
15Happy are the people with such blessings. Happy are the people whose God is Yahweh. 15Blessed are the people to whom such blessings fall! Blessed are the people whose God is the LORD!
