HCSB Parallel NASB [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
Holman Christian Standard BibleNew American Standard Bible 1995
Wisdom has built her house; she has carved out her seven pillars. 1Wisdom has built her house, She has hewn out her seven pillars;
She has prepared her meat; she has mixed her wine; she has also set her table. 2She has prepared her food, she has mixed her wine; She has also set her table;
She has sent out her female servants; she calls out from the highest points of the city:" 3She has sent out her maidens, she calls From the tops of the heights of the city:
Whoever is inexperienced, enter here!" To the one who lacks sense, she says," 4"Whoever is naive, let him turn in here!" To him who lacks understanding she says,
Come, eat my bread, and drink the wine I have mixed. 5"Come, eat of my food And drink of the wine I have mixed.
Leave inexperience behind, and you will live; pursue the way of understanding. 6"Forsake your folly and live, And proceed in the way of understanding."
The one who corrects a mocker will bring dishonor on himself; the one who rebukes a wicked man will get hurt. 7He who corrects a scoffer gets dishonor for himself, And he who reproves a wicked man gets insults for himself.
Don't rebuke a mocker, or he will hate you; rebuke a wise man, and he will love you. 8Do not reprove a scoffer, or he will hate you, Reprove a wise man and he will love you.
Instruct a wise man, and he will be wiser still; teach a righteous man, and he will learn more." 9Give instruction to a wise man and he will be still wiser, Teach a righteous man and he will increase his learning.
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. 10The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.
For by Wisdom your days will be many, and years will be added to your life. 11For by me your days will be multiplied, And years of life will be added to you.
If you are wise, you are wise for your own benefit; if you mock, you alone will bear the consequences." 12If you are wise, you are wise for yourself, And if you scoff, you alone will bear it.
The woman Folly is rowdy; she is gullible and knows nothing. 13The woman of folly is boisterous, She is naive and knows nothing.
She sits by the doorway of her house, on a seat at the highest point of the city, 14She sits at the doorway of her house, On a seat by the high places of the city,
calling to those who pass by, who go straight ahead on their paths:" 15Calling to those who pass by, Who are making their paths straight:
Whoever is inexperienced, enter here!" To the one who lacks sense, she says," 16"Whoever is naive, let him turn in here," And to him who lacks understanding she says,
Stolen water is sweet, and bread eaten secretly is tasty!" 17"Stolen water is sweet; And bread eaten in secret is pleasant."
But he doesn't know that the departed spirits are there, that her guests are in the depths of Sheol. 18But he does not know that the dead are there, That her guests are in the depths of Sheol.
