Davidic. The LORD is my light and my salvation-- whom should I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life-- of whom should I be afraid? 1A Psalm of David. The LORD is my light and my salvation; Whom shall I fear? The LORD is the defense of my life; Whom shall I dread?
When evildoers came against me to devour my flesh, my foes and my enemies stumbled and fell. 2When evildoers came upon me to devour my flesh, My adversaries and my enemies, they stumbled and fell.
Though an army deploys against me, my heart is not afraid; though a war breaks out against me, still I am confident. 3Though a host encamp against me, My heart will not fear; Though war arise against me, In spite of this I shall be confident.
I have asked one thing from the LORD; it is what I desire: to dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, gazing on the beauty of the LORD and seeking Him in His temple. 4One thing I have asked from the LORD, that I shall seek: That I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, To behold the beauty of the LORD And to meditate in His temple.
For He will conceal me in His shelter in the day of adversity; He will hide me under the cover of His tent; He will set me high on a rock. 5For in the day of trouble He will conceal me in His tabernacle; In the secret place of His tent He will hide me; He will lift me up on a rock.
Then my head will be high above my enemies around me; I will offer sacrifices in His tent with shouts of joy. I will sing and make music to the LORD. 6And now my head will be lifted up above my enemies around me, And I will offer in His tent sacrifices with shouts of joy; I will sing, yes, I will sing praises to the LORD.
LORD, hear my voice when I call; be gracious to me and answer me. 7Hear, O LORD, when I cry with my voice, And be gracious to me and answer me.
My heart says this about You," You are to seek My face." LORD, I will seek Your face. 8When You said, "Seek My face," my heart said to You, "Your face, O LORD, I shall seek."
Do not hide Your face from me; do not turn Your servant away in anger. You have been my helper; do not leave me or abandon me, God of my salvation. 9Do not hide Your face from me, Do not turn Your servant away in anger; You have been my help; Do not abandon me nor forsake me, O God of my salvation!
Even if my father and mother abandon me, the LORD cares for me. 10For my father and my mother have forsaken me, But the LORD will take me up.
Because of my adversaries, show me Your way, LORD, and lead me on a level path. 11Teach me Your way, O LORD, And lead me in a level path Because of my foes.
Do not give me over to the will of my foes, for false witnesses rise up against me, breathing violence. 12Do not deliver me over to the desire of my adversaries, For false witnesses have risen against me, And such as breathe out violence.
I am certain that I will see the LORD's goodness in the land of the living. 13I would have despaired unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the LORD In the land of the living.
Wait for the LORD; be strong and courageous. Wait for the LORD. 14Wait for the LORD; Be strong and let your heart take courage; Yes, wait for the LORD.
