Psalm 27
HCSB Parallel NLT [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
Holman Christian Standard BibleNew Living Translation
Davidic. The LORD is my light and my salvation-- whom should I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life-- of whom should I be afraid? 1The LORD is my light and my salvation— so why should I be afraid? The LORD is my fortress, protecting me from danger, so why should I tremble?
When evildoers came against me to devour my flesh, my foes and my enemies stumbled and fell. 2When evil people come to devour me, when my enemies and foes attack me, they will stumble and fall.
Though an army deploys against me, my heart is not afraid; though a war breaks out against me, still I am confident. 3Though a mighty army surrounds me, my heart will not be afraid. Even if I am attacked, I will remain confident.
I have asked one thing from the LORD; it is what I desire: to dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, gazing on the beauty of the LORD and seeking Him in His temple. 4The one thing I ask of the LORD— the thing I seek most— is to live in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, delighting in the LORD’s perfections and meditating in his Temple.
For He will conceal me in His shelter in the day of adversity; He will hide me under the cover of His tent; He will set me high on a rock. 5For he will conceal me there when troubles come; he will hide me in his sanctuary. He will place me out of reach on a high rock.
Then my head will be high above my enemies around me; I will offer sacrifices in His tent with shouts of joy. I will sing and make music to the LORD. 6Then I will hold my head high above my enemies who surround me. At his sanctuary I will offer sacrifices with shouts of joy, singing and praising the LORD with music.
LORD, hear my voice when I call; be gracious to me and answer me. 7Hear me as I pray, O LORD. Be merciful and answer me!
My heart says this about You," You are to seek My face." LORD, I will seek Your face. 8My heart has heard you say, “Come and talk with me.” And my heart responds, “LORD, I am coming.”
Do not hide Your face from me; do not turn Your servant away in anger. You have been my helper; do not leave me or abandon me, God of my salvation. 9Do not turn your back on me. Do not reject your servant in anger. You have always been my helper. Don’t leave me now; don’t abandon me, O God of my salvation!
Even if my father and mother abandon me, the LORD cares for me. 10Even if my father and mother abandon me, the LORD will hold me close.
Because of my adversaries, show me Your way, LORD, and lead me on a level path. 11Teach me how to live, O LORD. Lead me along the right path, for my enemies are waiting for me.
Do not give me over to the will of my foes, for false witnesses rise up against me, breathing violence. 12Do not let me fall into their hands. For they accuse me of things I’ve never done; with every breath they threaten me with violence.
I am certain that I will see the LORD's goodness in the land of the living. 13Yet I am confident I will see the LORD’s goodness while I am here in the land of the living.
Wait for the LORD; be strong and courageous. Wait for the LORD. 14Wait patiently for the LORD. Be brave and courageous. Yes, wait patiently for the LORD.
