International Standard VersionBerean Study Bible
LORD, remember in David's favor all of his troubles;1A song of ascents. O LORD, remember on behalf of David all the hardships he endured,
how he swore an oath to the LORD, vowing to the Mighty One of Jacob,2how he swore an oath to the LORD, and vowed to the Mighty One of Jacob:
"I will not enter my house, or lie down on my bed,3“I will not enter my house or get into my bed,
or let myself go to sleep or even take a nap, 4I will not give sleep to my eyes or slumber to my eyelids,
until I locate a place for the LORD, a dwelling place for the Mighty One of Jacob."5until I find a place for the LORD, a dwelling for the Mighty One of Jacob.”
We heard about it in Ephrata; we found it in the fields of Jaar. 6We heard that the ark was in Ephrathah; we found it in the fields of Jaar.
Let's go to his dwelling place and worship at his footstool.7Let us go to His dwelling place; let us worship at His footstool.
Arise, LORD, and go to your resting place, you and the ark of your strength.8Arise, O LORD, to Your resting place, You and the ark of Your strength.
May your priests be clothed with righteousness and may your godly ones shout for joy.9May Your priests be clothed with righteousness, and Your saints shout for joy.
For the sake of your servant David, don't turn away the face of your anointed one.10For the sake of Your servant David, do not reject Your anointed one.
The LORD made an oath to David from which he will not retreat: "One of your sons I will set in place on your throne.11The LORD swore an oath to David, a promise He will not revoke: “One of your descendants I will place on your throne.
If your sons keep my covenant and my statutes that I will teach them, then their sons will also sit on your throne forever."12If your sons keep My covenant and the testimony I will teach them, then their sons will also sit on your throne forever and ever.”
For the LORD has chosen Zion, desiring it as his dwelling place.13For the LORD has chosen Zion; He has desired it for His home:
"This is my resting place forever. Here I will live, because I desire to do so.14“This is My resting place forever and ever; here I will dwell, for I have desired this home.
I will bless its provisions abundantly; I will satiate its poor with food. 15I will bless her with abundant provisions; I will satisfy her poor with bread.
I will clothe its priests with salvation and its godly ones will shout for joy.16I will clothe her priests with salvation, and her saints will sing out in joy.
There I will create a power base for David— I have prepared a lamp for my anointed one.17There I will make a horn grow for David; I have prepared a lamp for My anointed one.
I will clothe his enemies with disgrace, but on him his crown will shine."18I will clothe his enemies with shame, but the crown upon him will gleam.”
