Psalm 132
ISV Parallel NIV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
International Standard VersionNew International Version
LORD, remember in David's favor all of his troubles;1A song of ascents. LORD, remember David and all his self-denial.
how he swore an oath to the LORD, vowing to the Mighty One of Jacob,2He swore an oath to the LORD, he made a vow to the Mighty One of Jacob:
"I will not enter my house, or lie down on my bed,3"I will not enter my house or go to my bed,
or let myself go to sleep or even take a nap, 4I will allow no sleep to my eyes or slumber to my eyelids,
until I locate a place for the LORD, a dwelling place for the Mighty One of Jacob."5till I find a place for the LORD, a dwelling for the Mighty One of Jacob."
We heard about it in Ephrata; we found it in the fields of Jaar. 6We heard it in Ephrathah, we came upon it in the fields of Jaar:
Let's go to his dwelling place and worship at his footstool.7"Let us go to his dwelling place, let us worship at his footstool, saying,
Arise, LORD, and go to your resting place, you and the ark of your strength.8Arise, LORD, and come to your resting place, you and the ark of your might.
May your priests be clothed with righteousness and may your godly ones shout for joy.9May your priests be clothed with your righteousness; may your faithful people sing for joy.'"
For the sake of your servant David, don't turn away the face of your anointed one.10For the sake of your servant David, do not reject your anointed one.
The LORD made an oath to David from which he will not retreat: "One of your sons I will set in place on your throne.11The LORD swore an oath to David, a sure oath he will not revoke: "One of your own descendants I will place on your throne.
If your sons keep my covenant and my statutes that I will teach them, then their sons will also sit on your throne forever."12If your sons keep my covenant and the statutes I teach them, then their sons will sit on your throne for ever and ever."
For the LORD has chosen Zion, desiring it as his dwelling place.13For the LORD has chosen Zion, he has desired it for his dwelling, saying,
"This is my resting place forever. Here I will live, because I desire to do so.14"This is my resting place for ever and ever; here I will sit enthroned, for I have desired it.
I will bless its provisions abundantly; I will satiate its poor with food. 15I will bless her with abundant provisions; her poor I will satisfy with food.
I will clothe its priests with salvation and its godly ones will shout for joy.16I will clothe her priests with salvation, and her faithful people will ever sing for joy.
There I will create a power base for David— I have prepared a lamp for my anointed one.17"Here I will make a horn grow for David and set up a lamp for my anointed one.
I will clothe his enemies with disgrace, but on him his crown will shine."18I will clothe his enemies with shame, but his head will be adorned with a radiant crown."
