Psalm 132
ISV Parallel NET [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
International Standard VersionNET Bible
LORD, remember in David's favor all of his troubles;1A song of ascents. O LORD, for David's sake remember all his strenuous effort,
how he swore an oath to the LORD, vowing to the Mighty One of Jacob,2and how he made a vow to the LORD, and swore an oath to the powerful ruler of Jacob.
"I will not enter my house, or lie down on my bed,3He said, "I will not enter my own home, or get into my bed.
or let myself go to sleep or even take a nap, 4I will not allow my eyes to sleep, or my eyelids to slumber,
until I locate a place for the LORD, a dwelling place for the Mighty One of Jacob."5until I find a place for the LORD, a fine dwelling place for the powerful ruler of Jacob."
We heard about it in Ephrata; we found it in the fields of Jaar. 6Look, we heard about it in Ephrathah, we found it in the territory of Jaar.
Let's go to his dwelling place and worship at his footstool.7Let us go to his dwelling place! Let us worship before his footstool!
Arise, LORD, and go to your resting place, you and the ark of your strength.8Ascend, O LORD, to your resting place, you and the ark of your strength!
May your priests be clothed with righteousness and may your godly ones shout for joy.9May your priests be clothed with integrity! May your loyal followers shout for joy!
For the sake of your servant David, don't turn away the face of your anointed one.10For the sake of David, your servant, do not reject your chosen king!
The LORD made an oath to David from which he will not retreat: "One of your sons I will set in place on your throne.11The LORD made a reliable promise to David; he will not go back on his word. He said, "I will place one of your descendants on your throne.
If your sons keep my covenant and my statutes that I will teach them, then their sons will also sit on your throne forever."12If your sons keep my covenant and the rules I teach them, their sons will also sit on your throne forever."
For the LORD has chosen Zion, desiring it as his dwelling place.13Certainly the LORD has chosen Zion; he decided to make it his home.
"This is my resting place forever. Here I will live, because I desire to do so.14He said, "This will be my resting place forever; I will live here, for I have chosen it.
I will bless its provisions abundantly; I will satiate its poor with food. 15I will abundantly supply what she needs; I will give her poor all the food they need.
I will clothe its priests with salvation and its godly ones will shout for joy.16I will protect her priests, and her godly people will shout exuberantly.
There I will create a power base for David— I have prepared a lamp for my anointed one.17There I will make David strong; I have determined that my chosen king's dynasty will continue.
I will clothe his enemies with disgrace, but on him his crown will shine."18I will humiliate his enemies, and his crown will shine.
