Psalm 48
ISV Parallel ESV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
International Standard VersionEnglish Standard Version
Great is the LORD! For he is to be praised greatly, even in the city of our God, his holy mountain.1Great is the LORD and greatly to be praised in the city of our God! His holy mountain,
Beautifully situated, the joy of all the earth, Mount Zion towards the north, the city of the great King.2beautiful in elevation, is the joy of all the earth, Mount Zion, in the far north, the city of the great King.
Within her citadels God is known as a place of refuge.3Within her citadels God has made himself known as a fortress.
Behold, when the kings assembled together, when they traveled together,4For behold, the kings assembled; they came on together.
they looked and were awestruck; they became afraid and ran away.5As soon as they saw it, they were astounded; they were in panic; they took to flight.
Trembling seized them there, pains like those of a woman in labor,6Trembling took hold of them there, anguish as of a woman in labor.
as when an east wind destroyed the ships of Tarshish.7By the east wind you shattered the ships of Tarshish.
Just as we have heard, so have we seen; in the city of the LORD of the heavenly armies— even in the city of our God— God will establish her forever. Interlude8As we have heard, so have we seen in the city of the LORD of hosts, in the city of our God, which God will establish forever. Selah
God, we have meditated on your gracious love in the midst of your Temple.9We have thought on your steadfast love, O God, in the midst of your temple.
God, according to your name, so is your praise to the ends of the earth. Your right hand is filled with righteousness.10As your name, O God, so your praise reaches to the ends of the earth. Your right hand is filled with righteousness.
Mount Zion will be glad; the towns of Judah will rejoice because of your judgments.11Let Mount Zion be glad! Let the daughters of Judah rejoice because of your judgments!
March around Zion; encircle her; count her towers.12Walk about Zion, go around her, number her towers,
Take note of her ramparts; investigate her citadels; that you may speak about them to the next generation.13consider well her ramparts, go through her citadels, that you may tell the next generation
For this God is our God forever and ever. He will guide us until death.14that this is God, our God forever and ever. He will guide us forever.
