Psalm 71
ISV Parallel KJV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
International Standard VersionKing James Bible
In you, LORD, I take refuge; let me never be humiliated.1In thee, O LORD, do I put my trust: let me never be put to confusion.
Rescue and deliver me, because you are righteous. Turn your ear to me and save me.2Deliver me in thy righteousness, and cause me to escape: incline thine ear unto me, and save me.
Be my sheltering refuge where I may go continuously; command my deliverance for you are my rock and fortress.3Be thou my strong habitation, whereunto I may continually resort: thou hast given commandment to save me; for thou art my rock and my fortress.
My God, deliver me from the power of the wicked and the grasp of ruthless practicers of evil.4Deliver me, O my God, out of the hand of the wicked, out of the hand of the unrighteous and cruel man.
For you are my hope, Lord GOD, my security since I was young.5For thou art my hope, O Lord GOD: thou art my trust from my youth.
I depended on you since birth, when you brought me from my mother's womb; I praise you continuously.6By thee have I been holden up from the womb: thou art he that took me out of my mother's bowels: my praise shall be continually of thee.
I have become an example to many that you are my strong refuge.7I am as a wonder unto many; but thou art my strong refuge.
My mouth is filled with your praise and your splendor daily.8Let my mouth be filled with thy praise and with thy honour all the day.
Don't throw me away when I am old; do not abandon me when my strength fails.9Cast me not off in the time of old age; forsake me not when my strength faileth.
For my enemies talk against me; those who seek to kill me plot together10For mine enemies speak against me; and they that lay wait for my soul take counsel together,
and say, "God has abandoned him. Run after him and seize him, because there's no deliverer."11Saying, God hath forsaken him: persecute and take him; for there is none to deliver him.
God, do not be distant from me. My God, come quickly to help me.12O God, be not far from me: O my God, make haste for my help.
Let my adversaries be ashamed and consumed; let those who seek my destruction be covered with scorn and disgrace.13Let them be confounded and consumed that are adversaries to my soul; let them be covered with reproach and dishonour that seek my hurt.
As for me, I will hope continuously and will praise you more and more.14But I will hope continually, and will yet praise thee more and more.
I will declare your righteousness and your salvation every day, though I do not fully understand what the outcome will be. 15My mouth shall shew forth thy righteousness and thy salvation all the day; for I know not the numbers thereof.
Lord GOD, I will come in the power of your mighty acts, remembering your righteousness—yours alone.16I will go in the strength of the Lord GOD: I will make mention of thy righteousness, even of thine only.
God, you taught me from my youth, so I am still declaring your awesome deeds.17O God, thou hast taught me from my youth: and hitherto have I declared thy wondrous works.
Also, when I reach old age and have gray hair, God, do not forsake me, until I have declared your power to this generation and your might to the next one.18Now also when I am old and grayheaded, O God, forsake me not; until I have shewed thy strength unto this generation, and thy power to every one that is to come.
Your many righteous deeds, God, are great,19Thy righteousness also, O God, is very high, who hast done great things: O God, who is like unto thee!
God, who can compare to you, who caused me to experience troubles that were numerous and disastrous? You will return to revive me and lift me up from the depths of the earth.20Thou, which hast shewed me great and sore troubles, shalt quicken me again, and shalt bring me up again from the depths of the earth.
You will increase my honor and comfort me once again.21Thou shalt increase my greatness, and comfort me on every side.
I also will praise you with the harp; because of your faithfulness, my God, I will praise you with the lyre— Holy One of Israel.22I will also praise thee with the psaltery, even thy truth, O my God: unto thee will I sing with the harp, O thou Holy One of Israel.
My lips will shout for joy when I sing praise to you, whose life you have redeemed.23My lips shall greatly rejoice when I sing unto thee; and my soul, which thou hast redeemed.
Moreover, my tongue will speak all day about your justice; for those who seek my destruction will be utterly humiliated.24My tongue also shall talk of thy righteousness all the day long: for they are confounded, for they are brought unto shame, that seek my hurt.
