From: Paul, an apostle of the Messiah Jesus by God's will. To: His holy and faithful people in Ephesus who are in union with the Messiah Jesus.1Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, To God's holy people in Ephesus, the faithful in Christ Jesus:
May grace and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus, the Messiah, be yours!2Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus, the Messiah! He has blessed us in the Messiah with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realm, 3Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ.
just as he chose us in the Messiah before the creation of the universe to be holy and blameless in his presence. In love 4For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love
he predestined us for adoption to himself through Jesus the Messiah, according to the pleasure of his will, 5he predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will--
so that we would praise his glorious grace that he gave us in the Beloved One. 6to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves.
In union with him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our offenses, according to the riches of God's grace 7In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God's grace
that he lavished on us, along with all wisdom and understanding, 8that he lavished on us. With all wisdom and understanding,
when he made known to us the secret of his will. This was according to his plan that he set forth in the Messiah9he made known to us the mystery of his will according to his good pleasure, which he purposed in Christ,
to usher in the fullness of the times and to bring together in the Messiah all things in heaven and on earth.10to be put into effect when the times reach their fulfillment--to bring unity to all things in heaven and on earth under Christ.
In the Messiah we were also chosen when we were predestined according to the purpose of the one who does everything that he wills to do, 11In him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will,
so that we who had already fixed our hope on the Messiah might live for his praise and glory. 12in order that we, who were the first to put our hope in Christ, might be for the praise of his glory.
You, too, have heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation. When you believed in the Messiah, you were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, 13And you also were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit,
who is the guarantee of our inheritance until God redeems his own possession for his praise and glory.14who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God's possession--to the praise of his glory.
Therefore, because I have heard about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints, 15For this reason, ever since I heard about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all God's people,
I never stop giving thanks for you as I mention you in my prayers. 16I have not stopped giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers.
I pray that the God of our Lord Jesus, the Messiah, the most glorious Father, would give you a wise spirit, along with revelation that comes through knowing the Messiah fully. 17I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better.
Then, with the eyes of your hearts enlightened, you will know the confidence that is produced by God having called you, the rich glory that is his inheritance among the saints, 18I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people,
and the unlimited greatness of his power for us who believe, according to the working of his mighty strength, 19and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength
which he brought about in the Messiah when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realm. 20he exerted when he raised Christ from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms,
He is far above every ruler, authority, power, dominion, and every name that can be named, not only in the present age, but also in the one to come. 21far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every name that is invoked, not only in the present age but also in the one to come.
God has put everything under the Messiah's feet and has made him the head of everything for the good of the church, 22And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church,
which is his body, the fullness of the one who fills everything in every way. 23which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way.
