International Standard VersionNew International Version
The king rejoices in your strength, LORD. How greatly he rejoices in your deliverance.1For the director of music. A psalm of David. The king rejoices in your strength, LORD. How great is his joy in the victories you give!
You have granted him the desire of his heart, and have not withheld what his lips requested. Interlude2You have granted him his heart's desire and have not withheld the request of his lips.
You go before him with wonderful blessings, and put a crown of fine gold on his head.3You came to greet him with rich blessings and placed a crown of pure gold on his head.
He asked life from you, and you gave it to him— a long life for ever and ever.4He asked you for life, and you gave it to him-- length of days, for ever and ever.
His glory is great because of your deliverance, you have given him honor and majesty.5Through the victories you gave, his glory is great; you have bestowed on him splendor and majesty.
Indeed, you have given him eternal blessings; you will make him glad with the joy of your presence.6Surely you have granted him unending blessings and made him glad with the joy of your presence.
The king trusts in the LORD; because of the gracious love of the Most High, he will stand firm. 7For the king trusts in the LORD; through the unfailing love of the Most High he will not be shaken.
Your hand will find all your enemies, your right hand will find those who hate you.8Your hand will lay hold on all your enemies; your right hand will seize your foes.
When you appear, you will set them ablaze like a fire furnace. In his wrath, the LORD will consume them, and the fire will devour them.9When you appear for battle, you will burn them up as in a blazing furnace. The LORD will swallow them up in his wrath, and his fire will consume them.
You will destroy their descendants from the earth, even their offspring from the ranks of mankind.10You will destroy their descendants from the earth, their posterity from mankind.
Though they plot evil against you and devise schemes, they will not succeed.11Though they plot evil against you and devise wicked schemes, they cannot succeed.
Indeed, you will make them retreat, when you aim your bow at their faces.12You will make them turn their backs when you aim at them with drawn bow.
Rise up, LORD, because you are strong; we will sing and praise your power.13Be exalted in your strength, LORD; we will sing and praise your might.
