Proverbs 3
ISV Parallel NLT [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
International Standard VersionNew Living Translation
My son, don't forget my instruction, and keep my commandments carefully in mind. 1My child, never forget the things I have taught you. Store my commands in your heart.
For they will add length to your days, years to your life, and abundant peace to you.2If you do this, you will live many years, and your life will be satisfying.
Do not let gracious love and truth leave you. Bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart,3Never let loyalty and kindness leave you! Tie them around your neck as a reminder. Write them deep within your heart.
and find favor and a good reputation with God and men.4Then you will find favor with both God and people, and you will earn a good reputation.
Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not depend on your own understanding.5Trust in the LORD with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding.
In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.6Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.
Do not be wise in your own opinion. Fear the LORD and turn away from evil.7Don’t be impressed with your own wisdom. Instead, fear the LORD and turn away from evil.
This will bring healing to your body, and refreshment to your bones.8Then you will have healing for your body and strength for your bones.
Honor the LORD with your wealth and with the first of all your produce,9Honor the LORD with your wealth and with the best part of everything you produce.
so your barns will be filled with abundance, and your vats will burst open with new wine.10Then he will fill your barns with grain, and your vats will overflow with good wine.
My son, do not reject the LORD's discipline, and do not despise his correction,11My child, don’t reject the LORD’s discipline, and don’t be upset when he corrects you.
because the LORD corrects the person he loves, just as a father corrects the son he delights in. 12For the LORD corrects those he loves, just as a father corrects a child in whom he delights.
How joyful is the man who finds wisdom, and the man who gains understanding,13Joyful is the person who finds wisdom, the one who gains understanding.
because her profit is better than the profit of silver, and her yield than fine gold.14For wisdom is more profitable than silver, and her wages are better than gold.
She is more precious than rubies, and nothing you desire compares with her.15Wisdom is more precious than rubies; nothing you desire can compare with her.
Long life is in her right hand, and in her left are riches and honor.16She offers you long life in her right hand, and riches and honor in her left.
Her ways are pleasant ways, and all her paths are peaceful.17She will guide you down delightful paths; all her ways are satisfying.
She is a tree of life for those who embrace her, and whoever clutches her tightly will be joyful.18Wisdom is a tree of life to those who embrace her; happy are those who hold her tightly.
By wisdom the LORD laid the earth's foundations, and by understanding he set the heavens in place.19By wisdom the LORD founded the earth; by understanding he created the heavens.
By his knowledge the depths broke open, and the clouds drip with dew.20By his knowledge the deep fountains of the earth burst forth, and the dew settles beneath the night sky.
My son, do not let wisdom leave your sight. Carefully observe sound judgment and discernment,21My child, don’t lose sight of common sense and discernment. Hang on to them,
and they will be life to you and a graceful ornament for your neck.22for they will refresh your soul. They are like jewels on a necklace.
Then you will travel safely on your way, and your foot will not stumble.23They keep you safe on your way, and your feet will not stumble.
When you sit down, you will not be afraid; when you lie down, your sleep will be pleasant. 24You can go to bed without fear; you will lie down and sleep soundly.
Do not be afraid of sudden disaster, or the devastation that comes to the wicked.25You need not be afraid of sudden disaster or the destruction that comes upon the wicked,
Indeed, the LORD will be your confidence, and he will keep your foot from being caught.26for the LORD is your security. He will keep your foot from being caught in a trap.
Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in your power to act.27Do not withhold good from those who deserve it when it’s in your power to help them.
Do not say to your neighbor, "Go, and come back. I will pay you tomorrow," when you have cash with you.28If you can help your neighbor now, don’t say, “Come back tomorrow, and then I’ll help you.”
Do not plan to harm your neighbor, when he is living peacefully beside you.29Don’t plot harm against your neighbor, for those who live nearby trust you.
Do not bring a lawsuit against a person for no reason, when he has done you no harm.30Don’t pick a fight without reason, when no one has done you harm.
Do not envy a violent man, and do not emulate his lifestyle. 31Don’t envy violent people or copy their ways.
Indeed, a perverse man is utterly disgusting to the LORD, but he takes the upright into his confidence. 32Such wicked people are detestable to the LORD, but he offers his friendship to the godly.
The LORD's curse is on the house of the wicked, but he blesses the dwelling of the righteous.33The LORD curses the house of the wicked, but he blesses the home of the upright.
Though God scoffs at scoffers, he gives grace to the humble.34The LORD mocks the mockers but is gracious to the humble.
The wise will inherit honor, but he holds fools up for ridicule.35The wise inherit honor, but fools are put to shame!
