To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. The king shall joy in thy strength, O LORD; and in thy salvation how greatly shall he rejoice!1For the choirmaster. A Psalm of David. O LORD, the king rejoices in Your strength. How greatly he exults in Your salvation!
Thou hast given him his heart's desire, and hast not withholden the request of his lips. Selah.2You have granted his heart’s desire and have not withheld the request of his lips. Selah
For thou preventest him with the blessings of goodness: thou settest a crown of pure gold on his head.3For You welcomed him with rich blessings; You placed on his head a crown of pure gold.
He asked life of thee, and thou gavest it him, even length of days for ever and ever.4He asked You for life, and You granted it—length of days, forever and ever.
His glory is great in thy salvation: honour and majesty hast thou laid upon him.5Great is his glory in Your salvation; You bestow on him splendor and majesty.
For thou hast made him most blessed for ever: thou hast made him exceeding glad with thy countenance.6For You grant him blessings forever; You cheer him with joy in Your presence.
For the king trusteth in the LORD, and through the mercy of the most High he shall not be moved.7For the king trusts in the LORD; through the loving devotion of the Most High, he will not be shaken.
Thine hand shall find out all thine enemies: thy right hand shall find out those that hate thee.8Your hand will apprehend all Your enemies; Your right hand will seize those who hate You.
Thou shalt make them as a fiery oven in the time of thine anger: the LORD shall swallow them up in his wrath, and the fire shall devour them.9You will place them in a fiery furnace at the time of Your appearing. In His wrath the LORD will engulf them, and the fire will consume them.
Their fruit shalt thou destroy from the earth, and their seed from among the children of men.10You will wipe their descendants from the earth, and their offspring from the sons of men.
For they intended evil against thee: they imagined a mischievous device, which they are not able to perform.11Though they intend You harm, the schemes they devise will not prevail.
Therefore shalt thou make them turn their back, when thou shalt make ready thine arrows upon thy strings against the face of them.12For You will put them to flight when Your bow is trained upon them.
Be thou exalted, LORD, in thine own strength: so will we sing and praise thy power.13Be exalted, O LORD, in Your strength; we will sing and praise Your power.
