Psalm 21
KJV Parallel NLT [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
King James BibleNew Living Translation
To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. The king shall joy in thy strength, O LORD; and in thy salvation how greatly shall he rejoice!1How the king rejoices in your strength, O LORD! He shouts with joy because you give him victory.
Thou hast given him his heart's desire, and hast not withholden the request of his lips. Selah.2For you have given him his heart’s desire; you have withheld nothing he requested. Interlude
For thou preventest him with the blessings of goodness: thou settest a crown of pure gold on his head.3You welcomed him back with success and prosperity. You placed a crown of finest gold on his head.
He asked life of thee, and thou gavest it him, even length of days for ever and ever.4He asked you to preserve his life, and you granted his request. The days of his life stretch on forever.
His glory is great in thy salvation: honour and majesty hast thou laid upon him.5Your victory brings him great honor, and you have clothed him with splendor and majesty.
For thou hast made him most blessed for ever: thou hast made him exceeding glad with thy countenance.6You have endowed him with eternal blessings and given him the joy of your presence.
For the king trusteth in the LORD, and through the mercy of the most High he shall not be moved.7For the king trusts in the LORD. The unfailing love of the Most High will keep him from stumbling.
Thine hand shall find out all thine enemies: thy right hand shall find out those that hate thee.8You will capture all your enemies. Your strong right hand will seize all who hate you.
Thou shalt make them as a fiery oven in the time of thine anger: the LORD shall swallow them up in his wrath, and the fire shall devour them.9You will throw them in a flaming furnace when you appear. The LORD will consume them in his anger; fire will devour them.
Their fruit shalt thou destroy from the earth, and their seed from among the children of men.10You will wipe their children from the face of the earth; they will never have descendants.
For they intended evil against thee: they imagined a mischievous device, which they are not able to perform.11Although they plot against you, their evil schemes will never succeed.
Therefore shalt thou make them turn their back, when thou shalt make ready thine arrows upon thy strings against the face of them.12For they will turn and run when they see your arrows aimed at them.
Be thou exalted, LORD, in thine own strength: so will we sing and praise thy power.13Rise up, O LORD, in all your power. With music and singing we celebrate your mighty acts.
