| 1To the chief Musician upon Shoshannim, for the sons of Korah, Maschil, A Song of loves. My heart is inditing a good matter: I speak of the things which I have made touching the king: my tongue is the pen of a ready writer. | 1For the choir director; according to the Shoshannim. A Maskil of the sons of Korah. A Song of Love. My heart overflows with a good theme; I address my verses to the King; My tongue is the pen of a ready writer. |
| 2Thou art fairer than the children of men: grace is poured into thy lips: therefore God hath blessed thee for ever. | 2You are fairer than the sons of men; Grace is poured upon Your lips; Therefore God has blessed You forever. |
| 3Gird thy sword upon thy thigh, O most mighty, with thy glory and thy majesty. | 3Gird Your sword on Your thigh, O Mighty One, In Your splendor and Your majesty! |
| 4And in thy majesty ride prosperously because of truth and meekness and righteousness; and thy right hand shall teach thee terrible things. | 4And in Your majesty ride on victoriously, For the cause of truth and meekness and righteousness; Let Your right hand teach You awesome things. |
| 5Thine arrows are sharp in the heart of the king's enemies; whereby the people fall under thee. | 5Your arrows are sharp; The peoples fall under You; Your arrows are in the heart of the King's enemies. |
| 6Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: the sceptre of thy kingdom is a right sceptre. | 6Your throne, O God, is forever and ever; A scepter of uprightness is the scepter of Your kingdom. |
| 7Thou lovest righteousness, and hatest wickedness: therefore God, thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows. | 7You have loved righteousness and hated wickedness; Therefore God, Your God, has anointed You With the oil of joy above Your fellows. |
| 8All thy garments smell of myrrh, and aloes, and cassia, out of the ivory palaces, whereby they have made thee glad. | 8All Your garments are fragrant with myrrh and aloes and cassia; Out of ivory palaces stringed instruments have made You glad. |
| 9Kings' daughters were among thy honourable women: upon thy right hand did stand the queen in gold of Ophir. | 9Kings' daughters are among Your noble ladies; At Your right hand stands the queen in gold from Ophir. |
| 10Hearken, O daughter, and consider, and incline thine ear; forget also thine own people, and thy father's house; | 10Listen, O daughter, give attention and incline your ear: Forget your people and your father's house; |
| 11So shall the king greatly desire thy beauty: for he is thy Lord; and worship thou him. | 11Then the King will desire your beauty. Because He is your Lord, bow down to Him. |
| 12And the daughter of Tyre shall be there with a gift; even the rich among the people shall intreat thy favour. | 12The daughter of Tyre will come with a gift; The rich among the people will seek your favor. |
| 13The king's daughter is all glorious within: her clothing is of wrought gold. | 13The King's daughter is all glorious within; Her clothing is interwoven with gold. |
| 14She shall be brought unto the king in raiment of needlework: the virgins her companions that follow her shall be brought unto thee. | 14She will be led to the King in embroidered work; The virgins, her companions who follow her, Will be brought to You. |
| 15With gladness and rejoicing shall they be brought: they shall enter into the king's palace. | 15They will be led forth with gladness and rejoicing; They will enter into the King's palace. |
| 16Instead of thy fathers shall be thy children, whom thou mayest make princes in all the earth. | 16In place of your fathers will be your sons; You shall make them princes in all the earth. |
| 17I will make thy name to be remembered in all generations: therefore shall the people praise thee for ever and ever. | 17I will cause Your name to be remembered in all generations; Therefore the peoples will give You thanks forever and ever. |
