King James BibleNET Bible
Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,1The word of the LORD came to me:
Son of man, set thy face against mount Seir, and prophesy against it,2"Son of man, turn toward Mount Seir, and prophesy against it.
And say unto it, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, O mount Seir, I am against thee, and I will stretch out mine hand against thee, and I will make thee most desolate.3Say to it, 'This is what the sovereign LORD says: "'Look, I am against you, Mount Seir; I will stretch out my hand against you and turn you into a desolate ruin.
I will lay thy cities waste, and thou shalt be desolate, and thou shalt know that I am the LORD.4I will lay waste your cities; and you will become desolate. Then you will know that I am the LORD!
Because thou hast had a perpetual hatred, and hast shed the blood of the children of Israel by the force of the sword in the time of their calamity, in the time that their iniquity had an end:5"'You have shown unrelenting hostility and poured the people of Israel onto the blades of a sword at the time of their calamity, at the time of their final punishment.
Therefore, as I live, saith the Lord GOD, I will prepare thee unto blood, and blood shall pursue thee: sith thou hast not hated blood, even blood shall pursue thee.6Therefore, as surely as I live, declares the sovereign LORD, I will subject you to bloodshed, and bloodshed will pursue you. Since you did not hate bloodshed, bloodshed will pursue you.
Thus will I make mount Seir most desolate, and cut off from it him that passeth out and him that returneth.7I will turn Mount Seir into a desolate ruin; I will cut off from it the one who passes through or returns.
And I will fill his mountains with his slain men: in thy hills, and in thy valleys, and in all thy rivers, shall they fall that are slain with the sword.8I will fill its mountains with its dead; on your hills and in your valleys and in all your ravines, those killed by the sword will fall.
I will make thee perpetual desolations, and thy cities shall not return: and ye shall know that I am the LORD.9I will turn you into a perpetual desolation, and your cities will not be inhabited. Then you will know that I am the LORD.
Because thou hast said, These two nations and these two countries shall be mine, and we will possess it; whereas the LORD was there:10"'You said, "These two nations, these two lands will be mine, and we will possess them,"--although the LORD was there--
Therefore, as I live, saith the Lord GOD, I will even do according to thine anger, and according to thine envy which thou hast used out of thy hatred against them; and I will make myself known among them, when I have judged thee.11therefore, as surely as I live, declares the sovereign LORD, I will deal with you according to your anger, and according to your envy, by which you acted spitefully against them. I will reveal myself to them when I judge you.
And thou shalt know that I am the LORD, and that I have heard all thy blasphemies which thou hast spoken against the mountains of Israel, saying, They are laid desolate, they are given us to consume.12Then you will know that I, the LORD, have heard all the insults you spoke against the mountains of Israel, saying, "They are desolate, they have been given to us for food."
Thus with your mouth ye have boasted against me, and have multiplied your words against me: I have heard them.13You exalted yourselves against me with your speech and hurled many insults against me--I have heard them all!
Thus saith the Lord GOD; When the whole earth rejoiceth, I will make thee desolate.14This is what the sovereign LORD says: While the whole earth rejoices, I will turn you into a desolation.
As thou didst rejoice at the inheritance of the house of Israel, because it was desolate, so will I do unto thee: thou shalt be desolate, O mount Seir, and all Idumea, even all of it: and they shall know that I am the LORD.15As you rejoiced over the inheritance of the house of Israel because it was desolate, so will I deal with you--you will be desolate, Mount Seir, and all of Edom--all of it! Then they will know that I am the LORD.'"
