1Therefore, my brethren dearly beloved and longed for, my joy and crown, so stand fast in the Lord, my dearly beloved.1Therefore, my brothers and sisters, you whom I love and long for, my joy and crown, stand firm in the Lord in this way, dear friends!
2I beseech Euodias, and beseech Syntyche, that they be of the same mind in the Lord.2I plead with Euodia and I plead with Syntyche to be of the same mind in the Lord.
3And I intreat thee also, true yokefellow, help those women which laboured with me in the gospel, with Clement also, and with other my fellowlabourers, whose names are in the book of life.3Yes, and I ask you, my true companion, help these women since they have contended at my side in the cause of the gospel, along with Clement and the rest of my co-workers, whose names are in the book of life.
4Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice.4Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!
5Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand.5Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near.
6Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.6Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
7And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.7And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
8Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.8Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable--if anything is excellent or praiseworthy--think about such things.
9Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.9Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me--put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.
10But I rejoiced in the Lord greatly, that now at the last your care of me hath flourished again; wherein ye were also careful, but ye lacked opportunity.10I rejoiced greatly in the Lord that at last you renewed your concern for me. Indeed, you were concerned, but you had no opportunity to show it.
11Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.11I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances.
12I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.12I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want.
13I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.13I can do all this through him who gives me strength.
14Notwithstanding ye have well done, that ye did communicate with my affliction.14Yet it was good of you to share in my troubles.
15Now ye Philippians know also, that in the beginning of the gospel, when I departed from Macedonia, no church communicated with me as concerning giving and receiving, but ye only.15Moreover, as you Philippians know, in the early days of your acquaintance with the gospel, when I set out from Macedonia, not one church shared with me in the matter of giving and receiving, except you only;
16For even in Thessalonica ye sent once and again unto my necessity.16for even when I was in Thessalonica, you sent me aid more than once when I was in need.
17Not because I desire a gift: but I desire fruit that may abound to your account.17Not that I desire your gifts; what I desire is that more be credited to your account.
18But I have all, and abound: I am full, having received of Epaphroditus the things which were sent from you, an odour of a sweet smell, a sacrifice acceptable, wellpleasing to God.18I have received full payment and have more than enough. I am amply supplied, now that I have received from Epaphroditus the gifts you sent. They are a fragrant offering, an acceptable sacrifice, pleasing to God.
19But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.19And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.
20Now unto God and our Father be glory for ever and ever. Amen.20To our God and Father be glory for ever and ever. Amen.
21Salute every saint in Christ Jesus. The brethren which are with me greet you.21Greet all God's people in Christ Jesus. The brothers and sisters who are with me send greetings.
22All the saints salute you, chiefly they that are of Caesar's household.22All God's people here send you greetings, especially those who belong to Caesar's household.
23The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen. 23The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. Amen.
