Song of Solomon 2
KJV Parallel NIV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
King James BibleNew International Version
I am the rose of Sharon, and the lily of the valleys.1I am a rose of Sharon, a lily of the valleys.
As the lily among thorns, so is my love among the daughters.2Like a lily among thorns is my darling among the young women.
As the apple tree among the trees of the wood, so is my beloved among the sons. I sat down under his shadow with great delight, and his fruit was sweet to my taste.3Like an apple tree among the trees of the forest is my beloved among the young men. I delight to sit in his shade, and his fruit is sweet to my taste.
He brought me to the banqueting house, and his banner over me was love.4Let him lead me to the banquet hall, and let his banner over me be love.
Stay me with flagons, comfort me with apples: for I am sick of love.5Strengthen me with raisins, refresh me with apples, for I am faint with love.
His left hand is under my head, and his right hand doth embrace me.6His left arm is under my head, and his right arm embraces me.
I charge you, O ye daughters of Jerusalem, by the roes, and by the hinds of the field, that ye stir not up, nor awake my love, till he please.7Daughters of Jerusalem, I charge you by the gazelles and by the does of the field: Do not arouse or awaken love until it so desires.
The voice of my beloved! behold, he cometh leaping upon the mountains, skipping upon the hills.8Listen! My beloved! Look! Here he comes, leaping across the mountains, bounding over the hills.
My beloved is like a roe or a young hart: behold, he standeth behind our wall, he looketh forth at the windows, shewing himself through the lattice.9My beloved is like a gazelle or a young stag. Look! There he stands behind our wall, gazing through the windows, peering through the lattice.
My beloved spake, and said unto me, Rise up, my love, my fair one, and come away.10My beloved spoke and said to me, "Arise, my darling, my beautiful one, come with me.
For, lo, the winter is past, the rain is over and gone;11See! The winter is past; the rains are over and gone.
The flowers appear on the earth; the time of the singing of birds is come, and the voice of the turtle is heard in our land;12Flowers appear on the earth; the season of singing has come, the cooing of doves is heard in our land.
The fig tree putteth forth her green figs, and the vines with the tender grape give a good smell. Arise, my love, my fair one, and come away.13The fig tree forms its early fruit; the blossoming vines spread their fragrance. Arise, come, my darling; my beautiful one, come with me."
O my dove, that art in the clefts of the rock, in the secret places of the stairs, let me see thy countenance, let me hear thy voice; for sweet is thy voice, and thy countenance is comely.14My dove in the clefts of the rock, in the hiding places on the mountainside, show me your face, let me hear your voice; for your voice is sweet, and your face is lovely.
Take us the foxes, the little foxes, that spoil the vines: for our vines have tender grapes.15Catch for us the foxes, the little foxes that ruin the vineyards, our vineyards that are in bloom.
My beloved is mine, and I am his: he feedeth among the lilies.16My beloved is mine and I am his; he browses among the lilies.
Until the day break, and the shadows flee away, turn, my beloved, and be thou like a roe or a young hart upon the mountains of Bether.17Until the day breaks and the shadows flee, turn, my beloved, and be like a gazelle or like a young stag on the rugged hills.
