A Song, a Psalm of Asaph. O God, do not remain quiet; Do not be silent and, O God, do not be still.1A song. A Psalm of Asaph. O God, be not silent; be not speechless; be not still, O God.
For behold, Your enemies make an uproar, And those who hate You have exalted themselves.2See how Your enemies rage, how Your foes have reared their heads.
They make shrewd plans against Your people, And conspire together against Your treasured ones.3With cunning they scheme against Your people and conspire against those You cherish,
They have said, "Come, and let us wipe them out as a nation, That the name of Israel be remembered no more."4saying, “Come, let us erase them as a nation; may the name of Israel be remembered no more.”
For they have conspired together with one mind; Against You they make a covenant:5For with one mind they plot together, they form an alliance against You—
The tents of Edom and the Ishmaelites, Moab and the Hagrites;6the tents of Edom and the Ishmaelites, of Moab and the Hagrites,
Gebal and Ammon and Amalek, Philistia with the inhabitants of Tyre;7of Gebal, Ammon, and Amalek, of Philistia with the people of Tyre.
Assyria also has joined with them; They have become a help to the children of Lot. Selah.8Even Assyria has joined them, lending strength to the sons of Lot. Selah
Deal with them as with Midian, As with Sisera and Jabin at the torrent of Kishon,9Do to them as You did to Midian, as to Sisera and Jabin at the River Kishon,
Who were destroyed at En-dor, Who became as dung for the ground.10who perished at Endor and became like dung on the ground.
Make their nobles like Oreb and Zeeb And all their princes like Zebah and Zalmunna,11Make their nobles like Oreb and Zeeb, and all their princes like Zebah and Zalmunna,
Who said, "Let us possess for ourselves The pastures of God."12who said, “Let us possess for ourselves the pastures of God.”
O my God, make them like the whirling dust, Like chaff before the wind.13Make them like tumbleweed, O my God, like chaff before the wind.
Like fire that burns the forest And like a flame that sets the mountains on fire,14As fire consumes a forest, as a flame sets the mountains ablaze,
So pursue them with Your tempest And terrify them with Your storm.15so pursue them with Your tempest, and terrify them with Your storm.
Fill their faces with dishonor, That they may seek Your name, O LORD.16Cover their faces with shame, that they may seek Your name, O LORD.
Let them be ashamed and dismayed forever, And let them be humiliated and perish,17May they be ever ashamed and terrified; may they perish in disgrace.
That they may know that You alone, whose name is the LORD, Are the Most High over all the earth.18May they know that You alone, whose name is the LORD, are Most High over all the earth.
