New American Standard Bible 1995Holman Christian Standard Bible
Then He said to me, "Son of man, stand on your feet that I may speak with you!"1He said to me, "Son of man, stand up on your feet and I will speak with you."
As He spoke to me the Spirit entered me and set me on my feet; and I heard Him speaking to me.2As He spoke to me, the Spirit entered me and set me on my feet, and I listened to the One who was speaking to me.
Then He said to me, "Son of man, I am sending you to the sons of Israel, to a rebellious people who have rebelled against Me; they and their fathers have transgressed against Me to this very day.3He said to me: "Son of man, I am sending you to the Israelites, to the rebellious pagans who have rebelled against Me. The Israelites and their ancestors have transgressed against Me to this day.
"I am sending you to them who are stubborn and obstinate children, and you shall say to them, 'Thus says the Lord GOD.'4The children are obstinate and hardhearted. I am sending you to them, and you must say to them, 'This is what the Lord GOD says.'
"As for them, whether they listen or not-- for they are a rebellious house-- they will know that a prophet has been among them.5Whether they listen or refuse to listen--for they are a rebellious house--they will know that a prophet has been among them."
"And you, son of man, neither fear them nor fear their words, though thistles and thorns are with you and you sit on scorpions; neither fear their words nor be dismayed at their presence, for they are a rebellious house.6But you, son of man, do not be afraid of them or their words, though briers and thorns are beside you and you live among scorpions. Don't be afraid of their words or be discouraged by the look on their faces, for they are a rebellious house.
"But you shall speak My words to them whether they listen or not, for they are rebellious.7But speak My words to them whether they listen or refuse to listen, for they are rebellious."
"Now you, son of man, listen to what I am speaking to you; do not be rebellious like that rebellious house. Open your mouth and eat what I am giving you."8And you, son of man, listen to what I tell you: Do not be rebellious like that rebellious house. Open your mouth and eat what I am giving you."
Then I looked, and behold, a hand was extended to me; and lo, a scroll was in it.9So I looked and saw a hand reaching out to me, and there was a written scroll in it.
When He spread it out before me, it was written on the front and back, and written on it were lamentations, mourning and woe.10When He unrolled it before me, it was written on the front and back; words of lamentation, mourning, and woe were written on it.
