1For the choir director; on stringed instruments. A Psalm of Asaph, a Song. God is known in Judah; His name is great in Israel.1To the chief Musician on Neginoth, A Psalm or Song of Asaph. In Judah is God known: his name is great in Israel.
2His tabernacle is in Salem; His dwelling place also is in Zion.2In Salem also is his tabernacle, and his dwelling place in Zion.
3There He broke the flaming arrows, The shield and the sword and the weapons of war. Selah.3There brake he the arrows of the bow, the shield, and the sword, and the battle. Selah.
4You are resplendent, More majestic than the mountains of prey.4Thou art more glorious and excellent than the mountains of prey.
5The stouthearted were plundered, They sank into sleep; And none of the warriors could use his hands.5The stouthearted are spoiled, they have slept their sleep: and none of the men of might have found their hands.
6At Your rebuke, O God of Jacob, Both rider and horse were cast into a dead sleep.6At thy rebuke, O God of Jacob, both the chariot and horse are cast into a dead sleep.
7You, even You, are to be feared; And who may stand in Your presence when once You are angry?7Thou, even thou, art to be feared: and who may stand in thy sight when once thou art angry?
8You caused judgment to be heard from heaven; The earth feared and was still8Thou didst cause judgment to be heard from heaven; the earth feared, and was still,
9When God arose to judgment, To save all the humble of the earth. Selah.9When God arose to judgment, to save all the meek of the earth. Selah.
10For the wrath of man shall praise You; With a remnant of wrath You will gird Yourself.10Surely the wrath of man shall praise thee: the remainder of wrath shalt thou restrain.
11Make vows to the LORD your God and fulfill them; Let all who are around Him bring gifts to Him who is to be feared.11Vow, and pay unto the LORD your God: let all that be round about him bring presents unto him that ought to be feared.
12He will cut off the spirit of princes; He is feared by the kings of the earth.12He shall cut off the spirit of princes: he is terrible to the kings of the earth.
