New American Standard Bible 1995NET Bible
A Psalm of Asaph. God takes His stand in His own congregation; He judges in the midst of the rulers.1A psalm of Asaph. God stands in the assembly of El; in the midst of the gods he renders judgment.
How long will you judge unjustly And show partiality to the wicked? Selah.2He says, "How long will you make unjust legal decisions and show favoritism to the wicked? (Selah)
Vindicate the weak and fatherless; Do justice to the afflicted and destitute.3Defend the cause of the poor and the fatherless! Vindicate the oppressed and suffering!
Rescue the weak and needy; Deliver them out of the hand of the wicked.4Rescue the poor and needy! Deliver them from the power of the wicked!
They do not know nor do they understand; They walk about in darkness; All the foundations of the earth are shaken.5They neither know nor understand. They stumble around in the dark, while all the foundations of the earth crumble.
I said, "You are gods, And all of you are sons of the Most High.6I thought, 'You are gods; all of you are sons of the Most High.'
"Nevertheless you will die like men And fall like any one of the princes."7Yet you will die like mortals; you will fall like all the other rulers."
Arise, O God, judge the earth! For it is You who possesses all the nations.8Rise up, O God, and execute judgment on the earth! For you own all the nations.
