Psalm 5
NASB Parallel NLT [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
New American Standard Bible 1995New Living Translation
For the choir director; for flute accompaniment. A Psalm of David. Give ear to my words, O LORD, Consider my groaning.1O LORD, hear me as I pray; pay attention to my groaning.
Heed the sound of my cry for help, my King and my God, For to You I pray.2Listen to my cry for help, my King and my God, for I pray to no one but you.
In the morning, O LORD, You will hear my voice; In the morning I will order my prayer to You and eagerly watch.3Listen to my voice in the morning, LORD. Each morning I bring my requests to you and wait expectantly.
For You are not a God who takes pleasure in wickedness; No evil dwells with You.4O God, you take no pleasure in wickedness; you cannot tolerate the sins of the wicked.
The boastful shall not stand before Your eyes; You hate all who do iniquity.5Therefore, the proud may not stand in your presence, for you hate all who do evil.
You destroy those who speak falsehood; The LORD abhors the man of bloodshed and deceit.6You will destroy those who tell lies. The LORD detests murderers and deceivers.
But as for me, by Your abundant lovingkindness I will enter Your house, At Your holy temple I will bow in reverence for You.7Because of your unfailing love, I can enter your house; I will worship at your Temple with deepest awe.
O LORD, lead me in Your righteousness because of my foes; Make Your way straight before me.8Lead me in the right path, O LORD, or my enemies will conquer me. Make your way plain for me to follow.
There is nothing reliable in what they say; Their inward part is destruction itself. Their throat is an open grave; They flatter with their tongue.9My enemies cannot speak a truthful word. Their deepest desire is to destroy others. Their talk is foul, like the stench from an open grave. Their tongues are filled with flattery.
Hold them guilty, O God; By their own devices let them fall! In the multitude of their transgressions thrust them out, For they are rebellious against You.10O God, declare them guilty. Let them be caught in their own traps. Drive them away because of their many sins, for they have rebelled against you.
But let all who take refuge in You be glad, Let them ever sing for joy; And may You shelter them, That those who love Your name may exult in You.11But let all who take refuge in you rejoice; let them sing joyful praises forever. Spread your protection over them, that all who love your name may be filled with joy.
For it is You who blesses the righteous man, O LORD, You surround him with favor as with a shield.12For you bless the godly, O LORD; you surround them with your shield of love.
