Psalm 94
NASB Parallel NLT [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
New American Standard Bible 1995New Living Translation
O LORD, God of vengeance, God of vengeance, shine forth!1O LORD, the God of vengeance, O God of vengeance, let your glorious justice shine forth!
Rise up, O Judge of the earth, Render recompense to the proud.2Arise, O Judge of the earth. Give the proud what they deserve.
How long shall the wicked, O LORD, How long shall the wicked exult?3How long, O LORD? How long will the wicked be allowed to gloat?
They pour forth words, they speak arrogantly; All who do wickedness vaunt themselves.4How long will they speak with arrogance? How long will these evil people boast?
They crush Your people, O LORD, And afflict Your heritage.5They crush your people, LORD, hurting those you claim as your own.
They slay the widow and the stranger And murder the orphans.6They kill widows and foreigners and murder orphans.
They have said, "The LORD does not see, Nor does the God of Jacob pay heed."7“The LORD isn’t looking,” they say, “and besides, the God of Israel doesn’t care.”
Pay heed, you senseless among the people; And when will you understand, stupid ones?8Think again, you fools! When will you finally catch on?
He who planted the ear, does He not hear? He who formed the eye, does He not see?9Is he deaf—the one who made your ears? Is he blind—the one who formed your eyes?
He who chastens the nations, will He not rebuke, Even He who teaches man knowledge?10He punishes the nations—won’t he also punish you? He knows everything—doesn’t he also know what you are doing?
The LORD knows the thoughts of man, That they are a mere breath.11The LORD knows people’s thoughts; he knows they are worthless!
Blessed is the man whom You chasten, O LORD, And whom You teach out of Your law;12Joyful are those you discipline, LORD, those you teach with your instructions.
That You may grant him relief from the days of adversity, Until a pit is dug for the wicked.13You give them relief from troubled times until a pit is dug to capture the wicked.
For the LORD will not abandon His people, Nor will He forsake His inheritance.14The LORD will not reject his people; he will not abandon his special possession.
For judgment will again be righteous, And all the upright in heart will follow it.15Judgment will again be founded on justice, and those with virtuous hearts will pursue it.
Who will stand up for me against evildoers? Who will take his stand for me against those who do wickedness?16Who will protect me from the wicked? Who will stand up for me against evildoers?
If the LORD had not been my help, My soul would soon have dwelt in the abode of silence.17Unless the LORD had helped me, I would soon have settled in the silence of the grave.
If I should say, "My foot has slipped," Your lovingkindness, O LORD, will hold me up.18I cried out, “I am slipping!” but your unfailing love, O LORD, supported me.
When my anxious thoughts multiply within me, Your consolations delight my soul.19When doubts filled my mind, your comfort gave me renewed hope and cheer.
Can a throne of destruction be allied with You, One which devises mischief by decree?20Can unjust leaders claim that God is on their side— leaders whose decrees permit injustice?
They band themselves together against the life of the righteous And condemn the innocent to death.21They gang up against the righteous and condemn the innocent to death.
But the LORD has been my stronghold, And my God the rock of my refuge.22But the LORD is my fortress; my God is the mighty rock where I hide.
He has brought back their wickedness upon them And will destroy them in their evil; The LORD our God will destroy them.23God will turn the sins of evil people back on them. He will destroy them for their sins. The LORD our God will destroy them.
