Then he led me out to the outer court, toward the north, and brought me to the chamber which was opposite the courtyard and opposite the building on the north.1Then the man led me out northward into the outer court, and he brought me to the group of chambers opposite the temple courtyard and the outer wall on the north side.
Its length was 175 feet on the north side, and its width 87 1/2 feet.2The building with the door facing north was a hundred cubits long and fifty cubits wide.
Opposite the 35 feet that belonged to the inner court, and opposite the pavement which belonged to the outer court, gallery faced gallery in the three stories.3Gallery faced gallery in three levels opposite the twenty cubits that belonged to the inner court and opposite the pavement that belonged to the outer court.
In front of the chambers was a walkway on the inner side, 17 1/2 feet wide at a distance of 1 3/4 feet, and their entrances were on the north.4In front of the chambers was an inner walkway ten cubits wide and a hundred cubits long. Their doors were on the north.
Now the upper chambers were narrower, because the galleries took more space from them than from the lower and middle chambers of the building.5Now the upper chambers were smaller because the galleries took more space from the chambers on the lower and middle floors of the building.
For they were in three stories and had no pillars like the pillars of the courts; therefore the upper chambers were set back from the ground more than the lower and upper ones.6For they were arranged in three stories, and unlike the courts, they had no pillars. So the upper chambers were set back further than the lower and middle floors.
As for the outer wall by the side of the chambers, toward the outer court facing the chambers, it was 87 1/2 feet long.7An outer wall in front of the chambers was fifty cubits long and ran parallel to the chambers and the outer court.
For the chambers on the outer court were 87 1/2 feet long, while those facing the temple were 175 feet long.8For the chambers on the outer court were fifty cubits long, while those facing the temple were a hundred cubits long.
Below these chambers was a passage on the east side as one enters from the outer court. 9And below these chambers was the entrance on the east side as one enters them from the outer court.
At the beginning of the wall of the court toward the south, facing the courtyard and the building, were chambers10On the south side along the length of the wall of the outer court were chambers adjoining the courtyard and opposite the building,
with a passage in front of them. They looked like the chambers on the north. Of the same length and width, and all their exits according to their arrangements and entrances11with a passageway in front of them, just like the chambers that were on the north. They had the same length and width, with similar exits and dimensions.
were the chambers which were toward the south. There was an opening at the head of the passage, the passage in front of the corresponding wall toward the east when one enters. 12And corresponding to the doors of the chambers that were facing south, there was a door in front of the walkway that was parallel to the wall extending eastward.
Then he said to me, "The north chambers and the south chambers which face the courtyard are holy chambers where the priests who approach the LORD will eat the most holy offerings. There they will place the most holy offerings--the grain offering, the sin offering, and the guilt offering, because the place is holy.13Then the man said to me, “The north and south chambers facing the temple courtyard are the holy chambers where the priests who approach the LORD will eat the most holy offerings. There they will place the most holy offerings—the grain offerings, the sin offerings, and the guilt offerings—for the place is holy.
When the priests enter, then they will not go out from the sanctuary to the outer court without taking off their garments in which they minister, for these are holy; they will put on other garments, then they will go near the places where the people are." 14Once the priests have entered the holy area, they must not go out into the outer court until they have left behind the garments in which they minister, for these are holy. They are to put on other clothes before they approach the places that are for the people.”
Now when he had finished measuring the interior of the temple, he led me out by the gate which faces east and measured all around.15Now when the man had finished measuring the interior of the temple area, he led me out by the gate that faced east, and he measured the area all around:
He measured the east side with the measuring stick as 875 feet by the measuring stick.16With a measuring rod he measured the east side to be five hundred cubits long.
He measured the north side as 875 feet by the measuring stick.17He measured the north side to be five hundred cubits long.
He measured the south side as 875 feet by the measuring stick.18He measured the south side to be five hundred cubits long.
He turned to the west side and measured 875 feet by the measuring stick.19And he came around and measured the west side to be five hundred cubits long.
He measured it on all four sides. It had a wall around it, 875 feet long and 875 feet wide, to separate the holy and common places. 20So he measured the area on all four sides. It had a wall all around, five hundred cubits long and five hundred cubits wide, to separate the holy from the common.
