NET Parallel ESV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT GRK]
NET BibleEnglish Standard Version
First of all, then, I urge that requests, prayers, intercessions, and thanks be offered on behalf of all people,1First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people,
even for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life in all godliness and dignity.2for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way.
Such prayer for all is good and welcomed before God our Savior,3This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior,
since he wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.4who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.
For there is one God and one intermediary between God and humanity, Christ Jesus, himself human,5For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus,
who gave himself as a ransom for all, revealing God's purpose at his appointed time.6who gave himself as a ransom for all, which is the testimony given at the proper time.
For this I was appointed a preacher and apostle--I am telling the truth; I am not lying--and a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth.7For this I was appointed a preacher and an apostle (I am telling the truth, I am not lying), a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth.
So I want the men to pray in every place, lifting up holy hands without anger or dispute. 8I desire then that in every place the men should pray, lifting holy hands without anger or quarreling;
Likewise the women are to dress in suitable apparel, with modesty and self-control. Their adornment must not be with braided hair and gold or pearls or expensive clothing,9likewise also that women should adorn themselves in respectable apparel, with modesty and self-control, not with braided hair and gold or pearls or costly attire,
but with good deeds, as is proper for women who profess reverence for God.10but with what is proper for women who profess godliness—with good works.
A woman must learn quietly with all submissiveness.11Let a woman learn quietly with all submissiveness.
But I do not allow a woman to teach or exercise authority over a man. She must remain quiet.12I do not permit a woman to teach or to exercise authority over a man; rather, she is to remain quiet.
For Adam was formed first and then Eve.13For Adam was formed first, then Eve;
And Adam was not deceived, but the woman, because she was fully deceived, fell into transgression.14and Adam was not deceived, but the woman was deceived and became a transgressor.
But she will be delivered through childbearing, if she continues in faith and love and holiness with self-control. 15Yet she will be saved through childbearing—if they continue in faith and love and holiness, with self-control.
