First of all, then, I urge that requests, prayers, intercessions, and thanks be offered on behalf of all people,1First of all, then, I urge that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for everyone,
even for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life in all godliness and dignity.2for kings and all those who are in authority, so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity.
Such prayer for all is good and welcomed before God our Savior,3This is good, and it pleases God our Savior,
since he wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.4who wants everyone to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.
For there is one God and one intermediary between God and humanity, Christ Jesus, himself human,5For there is one God and one mediator between God and humanity, Christ Jesus, Himself human,
who gave himself as a ransom for all, revealing God's purpose at his appointed time.6who gave Himself--a ransom for all, a testimony at the proper time.
For this I was appointed a preacher and apostle--I am telling the truth; I am not lying--and a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth.7For this I was appointed a herald, an apostle (I am telling the truth; I am not lying), and a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth.
So I want the men to pray in every place, lifting up holy hands without anger or dispute. 8Therefore, I want the men in every place to pray, lifting up holy hands without anger or argument.
Likewise the women are to dress in suitable apparel, with modesty and self-control. Their adornment must not be with braided hair and gold or pearls or expensive clothing,9Also, the women are to dress themselves in modest clothing, with decency and good sense, not with elaborate hairstyles, gold, pearls, or expensive apparel,
but with good deeds, as is proper for women who profess reverence for God.10but with good works, as is proper for women who affirm that they worship God.
A woman must learn quietly with all submissiveness.11A woman should learn in silence with full submission.
But I do not allow a woman to teach or exercise authority over a man. She must remain quiet.12I do not allow a woman to teach or to have authority over a man; instead, she is to be silent.
For Adam was formed first and then Eve.13For Adam was created first, then Eve.
And Adam was not deceived, but the woman, because she was fully deceived, fell into transgression.14And Adam was not deceived, but the woman was deceived and transgressed.
But she will be delivered through childbearing, if she continues in faith and love and holiness with self-control. 15But she will be saved through childbearing, if she continues in faith, love, and holiness, with good judgment.
