For the music director; written by the LORD's servant, David; an oracle. An evil man is rebellious to the core. He does not fear God, 1For the choir director. A psalm of David, the LORD's servant. An oracle within my heart concerning the transgression of the wicked person: There is no dread of God before his eyes,
for he is too proud to recognize and give up his sin. 2for in his own eyes he flatters himself too much to discover and hate his sin.
The words he speaks are sinful and deceitful; he does not care about doing what is wise and right. 3The words of his mouth are malicious and deceptive; he has stopped acting wisely and doing good.
He plans ways to sin while he lies in bed; he is committed to a sinful lifestyle; he does not reject what is evil. 4Even on his bed he makes malicious plans. He sets himself on a path that is not good and does not reject evil.
O LORD, your loyal love reaches to the sky; your faithfulness to the clouds. 5 LORD, Your faithful love reaches to heaven, Your faithfulness to the clouds.
Your justice is like the highest mountains, your fairness like the deepest sea; you preserve mankind and the animal kingdom. 6Your righteousness is like the highest mountains; Your judgments, like the deepest sea. LORD, You preserve man and beast.
How precious is your loyal love, O God! The human race finds shelter under your wings. 7God, Your faithful love is so valuable that people take refuge in the shadow of Your wings.
They are filled with food from your house, and you allow them to drink from the river of your delicacies. 8They are filled from the abundance of Your house; You let them drink from Your refreshing stream,
For you are the one who gives and sustains life. 9for with You is life's fountain. In Your light we will see light.
Extend your loyal love to your faithful followers, and vindicate the morally upright! 10Spread Your faithful love over those who know You, and Your righteousness over the upright in heart.
Do not let arrogant men overtake me, or let evil men make me homeless! 11Do not let the foot of the arrogant man come near me or the hand of the wicked one drive me away.
I can see the evildoers! They have fallen! They have been knocked down and are unable to get up! 12There the evildoers fall; they have been thrown down and cannot rise.
