The LORD said to Noah, "Come into the ark, you and all your household, for I consider you godly among this generation.1Then the LORD told Noah, "Come—you and all your household—into the ark, because I've seen that you alone are righteous in this generation.
You must take with you seven of every kind of clean animal, the male and its mate, two of every kind of unclean animal, the male and its mate,2You are to take with you seven pairs of every clean animal, a male and its mate, and two of the unclean animals, a male and its mate;
and also seven of every kind of bird in the sky, male and female, to preserve their offspring on the face of the earth.3along with seven pairs of the flying birds, male and female, in order to keep their offspring alive on the surface of all the earth.
For in seven days I will cause it to rain on the earth for forty days and forty nights, and I will wipe from the face of the ground every living thing that I have made." 4Seven days from now I'll send rain on the earth for 40 days and 40 nights, and I'll destroy every living creature that I've made."
And Noah did all that the LORD commanded him. 5Noah did everything that the LORD commanded.
Noah was 600 years old when the floodwaters engulfed the earth.6Noah was 600 years old when water began to flood the earth.
Noah entered the ark along with his sons, his wife, and his sons' wives because of the floodwaters.7Noah, his sons, his wife, and his sons' wives entered the ark with him before the flood waters arrived.
Pairs of clean animals, of unclean animals, of birds, and of everything that creeps along the ground,8From both clean and unclean animals, from birds, and from everything that crawls on the ground,
male and female, came into the ark to Noah, just as God had commanded him.9two by two, male and female, they entered the ark to join Noah, just as God had commanded.
And after seven days the floodwaters engulfed the earth. 10Seven days later, the flooding started.
In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, in the second month, on the seventeenth day of the month--on that day all the fountains of the great deep burst open and the floodgates of the heavens were opened.11On the seventeenth day of the second month, when Noah was 600 years old, all the springs of the great deep burst open, the floodgates of the heavens were opened,
And the rain fell on the earth forty days and forty nights. 12and it rained throughout the earth for 40 days and 40 nights.
On that very day Noah entered the ark, accompanied by his sons Shem, Ham, and Japheth, along with his wife and his sons' three wives.13On that very day, Noah entered the ark with his sons Shem, Ham, and Japheth, Noah's wife, his sons' three wives with them,
They entered, along with every living creature after its kind, every animal after its kind, every creeping thing that creeps on the earth after its kind, and every bird after its kind, everything with wings.14along with every species of wild animal, livestock, crawling creature, bird, and every creature that has wings.
Pairs of all creatures that have the breath of life came into the ark to Noah.15Two of each living creature entered the ark with Noah.
Those that entered were male and female, just as God commanded him. Then the LORD shut him in. 16The males and females of each living creature entered the ark, just as God had commanded. Then the LORD sealed them inside.
The flood engulfed the earth for forty days. As the waters increased, they lifted the ark and raised it above the earth.17The flood continued throughout the earth for 40 days, while the flood waters increased, lifting the ark so that it rose above the surface of the earth.
The waters completely overwhelmed the earth, and the ark floated on the surface of the waters.18The flood waters continued to surge, increasing throughout the earth, while the ark floated on the surface of the flood water.
The waters completely inundated the earth so that even all the high mountains under the entire sky were covered.19The flood water surged even higher throughout the earth, until all the highest mountains under the sky were covered.
The waters rose more than twenty feet above the mountains.20The flood waters rose 15 cubits above the mountains.
And all living things that moved on the earth died, including the birds, domestic animals, wild animals, all the creatures that swarm over the earth, and all humankind.21Every living thing on earth died—flying creatures, livestock, wildlife, all creatures that swarm over the earth, and all human beings.
Everything on dry land that had the breath of life in its nostrils died.22Everything that breathed and everything that had lived on dry land died.
So the LORD destroyed every living thing that was on the surface of the ground, including people, animals, creatures that creep along the ground, and birds of the sky. They were wiped off the earth. Only Noah and those who were with him in the ark survived.23All existing creatures that had lived on the surface of the ground were annihilated, from humans to livestock, from crawling creatures to birds of the sky. They were wiped off the earth. Only Noah remained, along with those who were with him in the ark.
The waters prevailed over the earth for 150 days. 24The flood waters surged over the earth for 150 days.
